Last night driving on Mittraphap before Pakchong, I passed a truck towing another empty truck using what looked like a Eucalyptus tree trunk, diameter around 6 inches connected with luggage straps same way they suspend an Isan baby cradle driving around 75 kph, looked like he had just been stopped by the Highway Police checkpoint and passed their scrutiny and was powering on with his journey. Amazing Thailand.

I'd say practical Thailand apart for the 75kph.

Thailand does not seem to use rope tows which is sensible considering the state of many peoples brakes. The tree trunk seems a useful towing beam.
