My team Stirling Albion is currently up for sale. Unless the fans come together to buy out the owner there is a serious risk my team will die. Please help me save it. For full details go to buystirlingalbion.org.uk

As you will see from the link above, we are trying to get people to buy a membership for £40 to save our club. All you are risking is £5 as if it doesn't work out, then you will get £35 back and if it does work out, you will own part of our club and help save it.

We have established a presence on two of the internet's biggest social network sites. We would be delighted for you and as many of your friends, family and colleagues as possible to join us.

On Facebook we have an official campaign group with hundreds of members as well as a page for all Supporters Trust news.

A Twitter account has also been created to give you all the latest news as it happens straight from the campaign team. Follow Buysafc.

You will also find us on Bebo and MySpace

Please join us in the fight to save our team.

Good luck with your quest Mif. I will look at the sites. Bury did something in desperation quite a few years ago.

Does the local goverment / council support the team in anyway?

Aye, he was a cracking player and a legend at the Binos. He was manager of East Kilbride Thistle until a couple of years ago and we used to play them in pre-season each season.

They are charging the current owner £70k a year for renting the stadium. We have been in talks with them and they are going to reduce the rent of the stadium for us if we give them access to the stadium for concerts, etc (we own the grass, but the current chairman would not consider anything like this). ie.We would rent the stadium 1-2 two days a week for matches and would pay £10-20k per season instead- a massive saving for such a small club.

A sterling effort. :)

Am seriously considering, btw.

Good luck with this.

I think we need to look after our own before we worry about Stirling Albion to be honest, no offence... :D

No our about it mate. It depends upon how any individual feels about these things.

But I wont be asking your opinion about leaving any of our money to Chiang Mai Disabled Center I don't think. :D

Considering the state of what our Club was/is in & how close we came to going into administration 4-6 weeks ago, i'll remember that then... :)

Good luck Stirling Albion ( & the Chiang Mai Disabled Centre, whatever they've got to do with anything ) anyway & no one wants to see a Football Club go bankrupt ( except T*ttenham ), that's for sure.. :D

You might have said it alfie. But I don't think I have seen anyone agree with you about it.

We may all agree that we don't like to see any team fold but if you think that for one minute I am going to give a cuddle and kiss to a Man United fan, you are seriously misguided.

Except for Redrus and Toady of course. They are good guys, so I might give them a man hug and a masculine slap on the back :)

Basicly what i am trying to say is that people have to be more appreciative of there fellow supporter's and this seems to be distictly lacking in mr singhs's attitude.

I think what alfieconn is getting at is that some obsessive rivalries become tedious , especially -- as is the case with West Ham/Spurs -- that isn't even reciprocated. And I rather think that Man u have bigger rivalries to engage than Citeh.

For my own perspective, I'm indifferent to Tottenham Hotspurs. Although perhaps that is in itself a form of contempt, devoid of the banalities. :D

However, it should be considered that it was young, rival supporters taking esctacy (E's) in the likes of Manchester nightclubs that was a significant factor in heralding the welcome end to football hooliganism. As awful as this may sound, as I understand it, that indeed did involve a certain amount of human-to-human hugging. :)

I would love to see the study and / or report, as to who came up with that chestnut :)

Apparently that is true, but i don't believe that hooliganism did ever go away, it just moved to areas that wern't so in your face.

But that has me thinking, why not give everyone an E when they go into football grounds, certainly as old happy hammer said, would encourage the cuddling bit and everyone would be a lot more chilled out.

You've never heard of this "chesnut" before? :)

Without doing your work for you -- and it is well documented as one reason that football violence waned with the rise of 'rave culture -- there's a reference to such here on page 27. But it's been mentioned on numerous times, over the last decade or so, in football related articles and the suchlike.

HH,

I am sorry, mate, but you are talking through you derriere :)

And if that article is the best that you can come up with as 'proof' of your ridiculous previous statement, then all I can say is keep popping those pills.

There were several reasons for the reduction of British hooliganism, including direct Govt and Police action, and several tragedies, that actioned all seater stadiums.

I dont know how old you are, but I can assure you in the 80s, popping E's and going to rave parties, although increased the number of dick heads around on a Friday and Saturday night, it did F### All to prevent football hooliganism.

A) It can be spelt either way

:D It's rude to correct someone's speeeeling :D

C) Also, it makes you look stupid when your "correction" was wrong :D

Absurd sentence. Apart from which , I quite distinctly told Mr BJ that I had no intention of doing the work for him -- nor for you if it comes to that. It has been commented on in several articles on the subject . But I find myself having to repeat again what I've already stated.

There were several reasons for the reduction of British hooliganism, including direct Govt and Police action, and several tragedies, that actioned all seater stadiums.

As above. If you had read my comments more closely, then you would have noticed that I stressed that the 'rave culture' was only but one contributing factor in the demise of the violent football hooligan sub-culture in England. Not the sole one.

Not that it matters. However, I'm old enough to have attended every match during the 66 WC finals played at Wembley. If you look at my personal photograph then it may give a further indication.

But you obviously have not taken much interest in this subject -- hence your comments display a commensurate degree of somewhat crude and wholly uninformed dismissiveness. :)

I didn't put chestnut in quotation marks to comment on your spelling, only to indicate that I don't think it is a chestnut --old or new. :D

That's all fair enough , mate.

The reason for asking your age was to know whether or not you were old enough or even born in the 80s, when concerted efforts were made to suppress football hooliganism. You have now answered that question.

Re the interest,,

Well I was actively involved 83-84 in the suppression of football hooliganism in Greater Manchester :)

So I think your last comment is wide of the mark, as I have ACTUAL experience in what you are talking about.

I don't think for a moment he's getting at that & i think the Man himself will clarify that & in fact, being pretty sure that i know the Man & have for a number of Years now, i'd be 99.999% that Alfredo isn't getting at that thinking about it... :D

& as for the " End of Football Hooliganism " HH, just goes to show how out of touch you are with the Game to be honest as i can assure you, as others have, that it is by no means ended, never has & i doubt will in the foreseeable future..

Anyway, again, good luck Stirling Albion.. :D

Which game are you referring to ? From when it first kicked-off - in it's most recent form - at UP in the late 60's (vs Manchester United) I never considered hooliganism as part of "the game . Although of course you may differ in opinion.

So by your definition. I'm rather pleased to be "out of touch ... with the Game. to be honest".

Even although I have studied the social history of the rise of football during the Industrial Revolution I, of course, didn't include in my final paper that which you are obviously so very au fait with. But you really should read more.

So once again, a typically pointless set of comments.
