I had not used my camera for about one week. I opened it up to change the position of the batteries-I store one battery upside down so it will not turn on when not being used. There was (AA) battery leakage. I looked with a flashlight and it appeared that it was just on the top terminals.

I cleaned the battery mess with a combination of vinegar and water as directed on several Internet sites. Initially the camera worked so I could take 3 pictures and then the camera died. Changing batteries did not work. I had the university photographer look at it. He does not speak any English but what he did was check the resistance of the battery terminals. The top battery terminal plates gave a full resistance (all the way to the right on the meter). The inner battery compartment terminal plates did not show any resistance (zero on the meter).

Can these plates be replaced? or am I SOL?
