Thinking of buying some kind of a car and would like ABS and airbags if possible.

1. What is the least expensive "new" car in Thailand with airbags and ABS?

2. What is the oldest used car one can purchase equipped with airbags and ABS?

Toyota vios, honda city, proton, Kia... and some other brands...

Go to the car dealership close to you and get a price list!

I have no clue about cheap old cars! but my guess it will not be a honda or toyota.... Maybe the 2003 Mitsubishi or a same age cheverolet!

Used Hyundai's are very cheap, not sure about the airbags or ABS in them. A 1996 City or Soluna will probably run you 120-180k baht. Same Hyundai excels are going for 55k.

The OP asked for airbags. No Exels ever had air bags. Soluna you can't get for 120'k with air bag either. Solunas for a 180'k are XLI models, no electric windows, manual gear and no air bags. Please check in

If you really want safety for low money, you can find a CHRYSLER NEON. All of them have passenger and driver air bags and ABS brakes. Usually you get what you pay for. You'll find a Junk one for 80'k or a good one for 160'k. sometime is's not worth to buy "the junk one" because in the end of the day you spent more when you fixed all than when you buy a good one from the beginnin. Be careful and good luck.

Yes it's hard to judge a price of a used car just used cars wise was curious the oldest year one could get

with airbags and ABS not the price so much.

But, new car price wise...Suchbabuddah that Proton Savvy (High Line) 465,000 baht looks tasty!

And according to the dealer here in Phuket if you have 40% down it's fairly easy to get one.

ABS and Airbags are often options, even in Toyotas and Hondas.

I have seen quite a few where the owner upgraded with AT, alloys and leather but left ABS and Airbags out.

So be sure to look, just asking won´t work at a car dealer, cuz the answer is: Chai!

In Europe yes, but not in Thailand

Audi: 80 and 100 have ABS, but not air bags (overhere). Early A 6 just have one airbag but they cost more than 200 for a nice one.

Opel: corsas don't have any airbags. Astras after 1995 with "Ecotec" engine only, they have ABS and one Air bag. Omegas aren't really available in Thailand. There is actually another option: Similar to the Omega, The aussie "HOLDEN Calais". Big nice car for low budged.

Ford Mondeos: A nightmare with electronic and automatic transmission troubles, but haveABS and 2 air bags. I don't recommend Mondeos at all unless you like troubles.

Therefore i think the best opinion for low budged cars, is the Crysler Neon. 2 air bags and ABS brakes. power windows, power locks, power mirrors, automatic gear lock, illuminated sunvisors, sporty nice desing. I think the best choice under 150'000 Baht. Just have to be careful that you buy one in good condition (not only the paint).

VW Passat has both, 1995/96 under 150k

Saab 900 S has both also at bargain prices

Volvo 850 ABS + 3 airbags from 150k........... [not far from me is a nice one owner and 116,000km appear in perfect condition for 208k] did see a few 1997 models some with side airbags as well for under 200k

Also 940's and 960's ABS + Airbags and same sort of price.
