Ok I know that sounds sad. I've just moved to Phuket and I need some buddies! Where is everyone?!! I'm 30, like getting drunk and dancing on tables (and falling off them sometimes, and I also want to learn to kite board if anyone is interested...... or can recommend somewhere to learn. Sorry, I've never been to Phuket but found this on the internet. Not sure if these places are anywhere near where you are staying though.

Phuket kite surfing IKO courses and equipment, Phukets finest Kitesurfing school - Kite Zone chalong bay and Nai Yang beach.

It seems like Kata beach is used more for surfing. Good luck and have fun. The Kite surfing looks awesome!

For the Kiteboarding, Kite Zone and KiteBoardingAsia (KBA) are the two schools on the island.(Links provided in earlier reply) Due to the change in wind direction, during summer months they are located at Naiharn, and during high season they are in Chalong/Rawaii area between Vijit resort and 7-11 on the road to Rawaii from Chalong. KBA also has a Kiosk on Karon beach now opposite the stadium, next to Karon Beach Resort. The ocean is not suitable for learning there, but they will teach you to use the trainer kite on the Karon beach if the wind is right. I took the course from KBA and was overall happy with it. KBA is long established and family run, Kite Zone is newer and a bunch of younger guys and I think now has IKO certified instructors, so whatever suits your fancy. I think they are probably both fine.
