Bike Security

Featured Replies

I went out last night and noticed the way this bike was locked. The chain was through the rear tire and around the seat, with the lock on top of the seat.

Probably other guys have seen it before but it was new to me and seemed like a good idea. The lock and chain were very noticable, showing potential thieves the bike was secured, a reminder to the driver to unlock the bike (yeah, I've forgotten to unlock before) and not easy for the thieves to hammer the lock off. Of course it could have been stolen by a few guys hoisting it on to a truck, but at least it wasn't an easy heist.

Just wanted to share :)

(Sorry for poor photo quality, it the best my old Nokia 6070 could manage :D )

and where do you suppose people without a basket on the front of their bike are going to carry a chain and lock like that? :)

Under the seat :D

That's just how I lock my Ducati. That and the steering lock. Would make it a bit tough to load into a truck, but not impossible. Also, the lock in the middle of the seat discourages people from sitting on it for fun (I would think). I do have theft insurance, too.

Never even thought about that keeping people from sitting on the bike. Good idea :)

Unless you park it near a Ladyboy bar then they are going to be all over it :):D :D :D :D :D

Hey, that wasn't mine, I swear. And if it was, I just ran in to buy some smokes, I didn't know, really!
