Unfinished Condo/hotel Development?

Does anyone know what a large white development is opposite (nearly) the Toyota garage on the bypass?

Looks like it has not had any movement on it for sometime.

What is the story with it and who owns it??

I can't remember ever seeing it open in the 8 years I've lived here. The story I was told was that it was built as a short time hotel. Though what the truth behind it all will probably never be known.

Been here 7 years never seen it open either.

On going theory is that it was to open as a hotel/motel but never did or didn't complete all the rooms.

but for years up until about 1 year ago, they always had a light on in the top glassed 'resturant' area and a security guard stationed out back. you could see a bunch of cars parked around the back of the building. and we always joking figured it was a more discrete Thai whore house.

now the whole place is dilapidated and falling apart.

While we're on the subject of mystery buildings whats the story with the unfinished block of apartment blocks over looking by-pass road on the out bound lane and roughly opposite Hino?

This place looks never finished, there is no access road that I know of, and the jungle seems to have claimed it as far back as I've been here. Anyone know anything about it?

If you mean the "L" shaped building which was a hotel. it has been derelict for over ten years;

needs to be pulled down.

The "unfinished" white development opposite Toyota was a hotel/motel and was used quite a bit during the time leading up to the building of the accomodation at the Boat Lagoon. The restaurant used to be quite reasonable as well as there were no other restaurants nearby. The land is/was owned by a very wealthy Bangkok Thai who built it at the time when a railroad was being touted as the next big development, linking Phuket with Suratthani. The main station was to have been built somewhere close by, hence the hotel. Surprise, surprise, it never happened!

The unfinished building further along the By-Pass road, was originally built by a Thai gentleman who ran foul of the law which said you must have the correct title to land before building on it. He subsequently lost the use of a large chunk of the land he had previously "owned" when it was found that it only had an agricultural title, to which he was not entitled. This was during the Chuan Leepai government which was the last time the Democrats were in office.

The island is surrounded by white elephants and dreamers projects..

The shells that look out over Kata south.. Another one on the Kata / Chalong hilltop.. Thats without ones that simply are bad investment plans and go bust.

One man's bad investment could be another man's opportunity!

Was indeed a hotel and later a short time hotel and changed hands a few times but no takers anymore because everyone knows now it is possessed by ghosts.

Looks like someone bought the kata/kata noi view project maybe 2 years ago but nothing has happened.

Is it too much to hope for that the municipality stopped it ?

Add the Payathai Hospital at Koh Sireh and the Lucky Department Store at Saphan Hin, both, as reported in the Press, built on land belonging to the Provincial Government. Add the airports at Chumpon and Buri Ram and probably a few other places in Thailand as well, the latter two huge investments for air traffic of something in the neighbourhood of 1 or 2 flights a week.
