Does anybody else upload to Flickr or similar sharing sites?

I ask because 3 weeks ago I decided to open an account and see if I could generate a few sales from the uploaded images.

A USA based pal of mine clued me in and suggested sales might be forthcoming.

Well, blow me, talk about views. I've had 22,223 views since the 18th July! But, whats more interesting is I only upload copyrighted and low res images and, as such, it makes it difficult to download and use. So, I'm getting requests to supply higher res which they are willing to pay for! :)

So guys and gals, food for thought eh?

Sounds good!

i've had a Flickr account for more than a year now.... but upload the full-size photos and allow downloading by anyone. I get some views... but hardly any comments......

You must be doing it right....

I'm surprised about that "Fred" - I've seen your stuff and it's very good (even though your missus shoots it eh? :) )

Anyway, a tip is keywording - I spend hours and hours perfecting keywording and it's the crux of sales. If they can't find, they can't buy it.

Maybe something to think about.

And why allow free downloading of your work? Ya get ought for nought where I come from :D

Hope that helps

Vulcan's flickr (great photos as expected) :D I did notice that the keywording was very precisely done indeed. I might upload a new image twice, one with keywords and the other without and see how much of a difference there is with regards to views and comments.

Nudes are also always a good way to gain exposure :)

Just added you as a contact and friend - thanks for contacting me.

Yea, a bit of "glamour" draws attention but strangely enough it's the non-glamour stuff (viz, Harley) that they want to buy! Best $24 I've ever spent :D

Keywording is an art in itself. I ain't saying I've perfected it, but I've sure learnt a lot about it lately. The trick is "key what ya see" and then look at the alternative words/spellings and associations.

Don't forget to use, a, an, with, at, etc etc. viz, "an old sepia image from a vintage era" and then all the relevants/plurals on (say) your first image.

Good luck, hope to see more

I haven't tried this but it may be of interest to some. It's a specialized browser allowing automatic connection to social networks including Flickr. Perhaps some of the uploading tools may be useful. Flock Browser.

I'll take the blame for that fabianfred :)

I rarely give an evaluation of a photo and thought it would be a novel way of showing appreciation for an image. It is optional if you allow others to tag your uploads. Surprised that the owner isn't informed of who adds tags though.

News to me. How do you enable/disable this option?

Thanks
