lep Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Hi - my husband & I arrive in Phuket mid Oct for 3 mo. He would like to find other players for singles or doubles. Where would be inexpensive courts with regular players, please, if you know? We're planning on renting an apartment (Kata, perhaps??) as would like to be near beach. Any suggestions, input welcomed.

wtk Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 I've played both at Hilton, Karon and the rawai place. Hilton's crew are kind of nitty about everything + the charges for everything are higher than at the rawai place where you can get a bit more flexible service.

TaoNow Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 Greetings Lep, and welcome (in advance) to Phuket. What is your husband's age and tennis playing ability? Regards,
fiddlehead Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 Just saw a new tennis center being built. Heading north (towards Central) from Wat Chalong on the Choafa West road, if you take the very next right after the big TOT complex, then you'll see the new tennis center being built soon on your right. Badly needed here as far as I'm concerned. I take my son to the courts in Phuket town near Saphan Hin but they get busy after school hours. There are 4 fairly decent courts there that are free (at least no one ever tried to charge me) tennis lessons for kids are offered there on weekends also I've also played at the Evason courts in Rawai but I've heard that there prices have gone up considerably. (nice courts though)
steelepulse Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 Buy a monthly membership at the Hilton and if you play fairly regularly, it'll come out pretty cheap. Last I remember it was 5K for a 6 month membership, and a one month membership was either 1500 or 2000 THB. This gets you pool access, tennis and squash courts and the changing rooms/sauna.

Sounds like a high season/low season thing in the price differences which makes sense as that's the way it goes for all rooms everywhere.

lep Posted October 14, 2009 Author Posted October 14, 2009 Now living in Karon. Have phones - dont know how to PM people on forum - how can we connect to set up singles or doubles? Thanks - sorry for being so unknowledgeable about this system!!!
TaoNow Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 Greetings Lep: The way I send PMs is to go to the "members" option at the upper right of the screen and then type in the name of the TV member you want to send a message to. Click on the arrow next to the avatar space and there will be a drop-down menu prompting you how to send a personal message. Hope you find what you are looking for in/around Karon. There are less expensive tennis clubs in Phuket town as well, though the court surface is not always great. Kind regards, TN
