The Lights Go Out In Pattaya

The lights go out as Pattaya suffers a major power cut on one of the busiest nights of the week.

The worst thing that could possibly happen in Pattaya at the weekend is a power cut. Unfortunately, this is exactly what happened on Friday night, one of the busiest nights of the week. As you can see from our pictures, many parts of North Pattaya, Naklua and most of Pattaya Third Road were plunged into darkness between midnight and 2 am, the peak times for many of Pattaya’s bars and disco’s. The power cut forced many bars and disco’s to close early, others decided to operate under candlelight. The Police were on standby incase anyone decided to use the blackout to their advantage and commit a crime, luckily none were reported in the affected areas. We spoke with the local power company who blamed the power-cut on a sub-station located near the Siam Country Club which stopped working. They have asked us to apologize to everyone who was affected by the problem but cannot guarantee this will not happen again in the future.

Coincidentally, I had just pulled up on my bike at the end of my road off Siam country club friday, ready to start a nights work, when the pylon across the road exploded, showering me and the 2 security guys in sparks and plunging the area into darkness.

Sh!t me right up, was one h3ll of a bang, thought I was gonna get electrocuted.

Bit of a b@stard, really, as I usually make quite a bit of money on Friday nights, but no chance of working with no power, so turned the bike around and headed back into town for a drink. Ended up getting home about 9am, now I find out I could have come home for 2am. :o
