Did Trump actually succeed in getting Pakistan and India to ceasefire?
Each country has their own version of how their ceasefire came to be. Trump says his negotiating team got them to agree. India says Trumps team had nothing to do with it. Pakistan says Trumps team got them both to agree. What do you think? Here is the story. Here are the latest developments: Trump announces ceasefire: The halt in fighting was first announced by US President Donald Trump, who said in a post on social media that the agreement came after a night of US mediation. India and Pakistan confirm: India and Pakistan soon confirmed Trump’s announcement, saying the ceasefire became effective at 5 p.m. New Delhi time (7:30 a.m. ET). India downplays US: India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri did not mention US involvement when announcing the agreement, and an Indian statement said the deal was worked out “directly” between the two countries, contradicting Trump’s claim. Europe remains the key to Britain’s future economic success
The EU could have taken away most of the City of London's business, had it wanted to do so. Clearly it would be in Frankfurt's interest to establish itself above the City of London as Europe's main financial market place. The UK looks more and more like a failed state anyway, but the loss of the financial services sector would not be mortal, the UK has pharma and many other sectors still for a prolonged decrepit decline. The UK's decline would not affect the EU all that much. The EU could regulate away a lot of the City's business, and they can still do so in the future, if they ever decide to do it.
