I was watching the US version of The Office on MNET last night, produced by NBC and adapted from the BBC original.

Would anyone agree with me that it is just NOT FUNNY?

The BBC's production was absolutely brilliant! :)

I have no idea what The Office is.

I guess it is a series.

But I know this.

The thread would probably be moved to another Forum, or closed (not Thailand related).

Yes, it is a TV series.

Why should it be removed when it is shown here?

You can't compare the two, although Gervais and Marchant (sp?) are credited as "adapters" or something. Well, you can compare them, but like you said, the British one was a classic, the American one is not bad, give it time to grow on you. Steve Carril is a great idiot, and the background cast are funny - they don't get enough lines.

btw, if this isn't Thailand related, either is cricket or rugby or aussie rules or american football or any foreign film thats not shown in Thailand.

I love The Office / USA. Original, creative material. Currently a bit over the top, but where can you find something so refreshingly new? AND, no laugh track. YEA

OOPS, maybe if you don't understand the premise that it is a "documentary," it losses a lot of appeal.

It is actually a "mockumentary".

You are the one who doesn't understand and, by the way, you mean loses not losses.

Keep taking the tablets!

The first season of the American Office is dreadful because it tries to copy the UK office and fails miserably.

However

Season 2 onwards follow a more American style and are absolutely fantastic in their own right. Do not watch the rest of the first series, skip straight to season two!

The 'British' Office is like Fawlty Towers.

I would never tire watching it.

The 'Yank' Office is like Dynasty or Dallas.

Utter cr*p.

That '40-year-old-virgin' bloke sure likes to

copy other's ideas. Didn't he copy Jim Carrey

at something (badly) too?
