Using Skype In Phuket

Featured Replies

I have a internet connection with tot, i pay for the gold service which is supposed to be the second best connection. regularly when i make a skype call i cannot make a video call and when i check the setting up with skype they say i have no camera and need to purchase one (my computer has a inbuilt camera) at other times it works perfectly. When i lived in kata i occasionally had the same problem but not on a regular basis like here in chalong. Does anyone else have a simular problem or could it be a fault in my computer.

Generally speaking the TOT service is not as good as TT&T. The service you used in Kata was TT&T premium 2Meg service which is generally far superior compared with TOT Gold.

Skype calls are always a lottery depending on Skype traffic and your local server traffic.

Another factor is the quality of your line installation and physical distance from your home to the phone exchange. There are a lot of variable involved with speed/quality of service at your home..

Amazing since i posted the subject skype is working properly and the computer is working much faster, maybe someone from tot read the post.

We have the same problem making a video call on Windows Live using TOT. TT&T was not available in our area and so we had to have TOT.

Over the past week at has worked 35% of the time, sometimes just sound no pitcure, sometimes will not connect at all. I doubt there is much I can do about it, just wait for the technology/speeds to get better. In about 5 years I reckon it will work a charm, just need to put up with it for now.....
