Let's put it to a vote. As a German citizen I couldn't vote. Neither could any of the international contingency here at ThaiVisa. This is your chance. And any Americans willing to reconsider, too.

There are options that show a bias in the questionaire, thus an oportunity to have the results skewed.

We wouldn't want Bush to win on chads again would we? :)

BTW, what does "Give the country back to it's people" mean? Return all lands to the indigenous Indians?

Give the country back to the injuns?

That NOT as stupid as it sounds.

Reckon Hilary mite be a good option too.

Like give New Zealand back to the Maoris...<deleted>.

Dunno about OZ and the Australian Aboriginals.

Ding, ding, ding. Another winner. Yes, return the land to the natives. We could bring back the buffalo, too! For however many thousands of years the Indian has inhabited America and not a single economic depression. No poor and no hunger. No hoarding and no lack. Free health care. And they respected the environment. Where's my time machine? :D

BTW, who was the single vote for being SAVED by the ONE? Hmmmm . . . . Whistling2.gif

After her ad-lib interview on Thai television, I'd vote for Hilary.

Hillary?? WTF.gif:)

Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton??? Enough of the family tag teams for the presidency.

There are probably enough buffaloes in Thailand to be going on with :)

I didn't vote. I tried to pick one of the performing parrots but just couldn't. I felt like I was wasting my vote no matter who I pick. I tried to ignore the electoral college and pick , but what is the point, my state was going red no matter what I did. So, I stayed home and watched history unfold, like it does everyday, waiting for what these power hungry ego manics to to us now.

Ron Paul :)

BTW, did anyone check out the recent CNN poll (I believe it was CNN) on ending the Federal Reserve? At the time I voted the tally was a whooping 89% in favour of abolishing the Fed out of 11,000+ votes cast! Bill HR1207, sponsored by Ron Paul. Audit the Fed!

There's an old post-election adage that's valid in every sort of election, from national elections to school committee votes: if you didn't vote, don't complain about the result!

When the choices I am forced between are these sh1t filled silk stockings I have every right to complain! Palin is a complaint that could take a whole hour. Even after the election as well because I didn't vote for any of these bastards. Besides, because of the electoral college even if I did vote it would have been wiped away because of my neighbors. It isn't one person one vote here, it's a fking average! I have every right to complain about a system that isn't working.

Will never happen. As long as we are willing to put on our money that we trust an imaginary man than the Fed will act as that imaginary man over our money. Americans bow our heads to experts way too often before asking why.

Yeah, it's a funny system that electoral college thing you have....not that I understand it enought to be able to say that it's funny (funny-odd, not funny-haha). Mind you, democracy in any true form, by definition only produces average results (I mean average as in not the best) because it is (or is supposed to be) majority rule.....this means the best minds and best ideas in the country are always over-ruled.

I propose that the best system would borrow from the idea of democracy of the people voting, but restrict the people allowed to vote to only those that are in the 70th (say) percentile in IQ and EQ scores. Obviously the people running for election would have to pass that benchmark too.

That is the problem in a nutshell.

If the powers that be need proof they need only hold a true election

(yeah like that is going to happen) & add one box to the ballot.

That box would read none of the above.

If enough check none of the above then so be it.

The nominations did not reflect the true choice of the people. Start over

I have always found one thing perplexing about the US electoral system.

Why is it we choose from 50 candidates (57 in Obama's world) for our Miss America, but we only choose from 2 candidates for President?

I voted to give the US back to it's people.

Just a playful dig in the ribs.

I know you were just kidding. However, the eletoral college along with the two party system is a real problem. Votes below the federal level will be one person one vote, but when voting for the president the it's more like states voting for the office. So, if there are more Republicans living in a state than Democrats that state will go to the Republicans regardless of what the other people in the state voted. It's crap.

I like you're IQ idea, but than I fear only 10% could vote and the same people would still get in.

Yes, time for cleaning house the way Jefferson suggested, burn down and rebuild to avoid the decay of liberty by those who seek power. No, electoral college, no two party system, no lobbists, free campagin funding (Public radio and TV) and more accurate representation of the American people.

American Idol is more of a fair vote than the Presidental election, that's fking sad.

Presumably those who weren't allowed to vote wouldn't be obliged to pay any taxes?

Only the stupid would call themselves qualified.

Presumably those who weren't allowed to vote wouldn't be obliged to pay any taxes?

Is eligibility to vote the criterium for tax-paying? Of course they would pay taxes! Maybe they should pay MORE tax because they are being looked after so much better! :)

Ahhhhhh. Very good. :D

But technically, and (hopefully) in reality, the bright representatives would indeed represent the dim. They (the bright reps) would know that it's important to keep the ignorant masses happy and thus they would do whatever prudent measures, thereby "representing" the constituents.

It's all about keeping the ignorant masses happy while doing whatever is best for the country as a whole.

No, it's not all about patronising those who finance the government by calling them 'the ignorant masses' and assuming that you're more qualified to spend their money than they are. The 'ignorant masses' ARE the country.

The ignorant masses, "the great unwashed" ARE a significant part of the country.

The "bright representatives" ARE more qualified, by definition.

Is it patronising if the patronisee is unaware that he's being patronised?

Once anyone has spent a dollar on taxes, that dollar is no longer theirs....sure they have a lien on it, but not ownership.

The 'bright representatives' are more qualified by whose definition? Their own, maybe. When they pay all the bills they can pull all the strings. Until then they ought to be reminded on a regular and vigorous basis just who they work for.

Considering that I'm a member of the 'great unwashed' in the UK and that the 'bright representatives' have spent the last few years screwing us for all we're worth we patronisees are very well aware that we've been patronised. We're also well aware that the 'bright representatives' seem to think that our main function is to finance their indulgences. Well excuse me - if your moat needs cleaning - clean it yourself.

Saving us I am not sure on at all. It seems to me that he is about to get us involved in yet another war in the Middle East with Iran. Anyone here think different?

Well spoken written, endure. I find it sad whenever people feel that others are more capable of determining their own well-being for them. Least of all self-promoting politicians. :)
