I didn't get a chance to mention this before the thread was closed, but can I point out that the Soi Bangla tout scam was due to the wet blanket that used to own Lipstick Ago-go 5 years ago who agreed or rather invited the touts to operate for his premises alone. On seeing how lucrative the whole scheme was, the hoodlums then increased their field of operation.

Now look at the monster he created

:D Quite an abuse of the title ‘Mafia’ doncha think? I mean, I wonder what do the real Mafia think about this abuse of their title?...still, ‘Don’ JJ and his pot bellied mutts, plus any of the other aforementioned scammers have been certainly dining out on this one for a while. But, pause for thought...imagine if any of the above ‘Mafia’ chose, like the real Mafia, to spread their wings into the international arena and bring their scams to a beach near you in your own country?....hee, hee..I can see JJ and his fellow ilk wearing his ‘shooter’ and ping-pong show leaflets where the sun don’t shine, long before the sun goes down......chock ices are on me. :)

I was shuffling oop the beach road in Patong last week and saw only 2 Jet Ski boats which were still attached to trailers, and none in the water. What I did see were warning buoys about the dangerous rip tides and more than a few flabby farangs and their spawn, walrusing in the rather rough looking briny. Those not in the water were overdoing the sun a bit, and one old German lass looked like she would make a jolly fine handbag and shoes, such was her skin condition. :D

Touts have been licensed for months now paying 1000baht a month each to the police and there are over 100 of them. Now they have a "uniform" too...a purple Tshirt with a huge number on the back. So now they are even more obnoxious as they can flaunt their new status of being officially licensed to extort money for drinks. Next time one approaches you take his menu card and flip it over and look at the prices. I've seen one with 700baht for EVERY drink...including water...then just laugh and give him his card back. Walk into ANY gogo make it clear a tout did not bring you in and you pay just the normal price for that gogo.
