I'm considering riding my motorcycle from BKK to Ko Sichang next week. It might be fun to buzz around the island on a motorbike.

I have been unable to find any information on the web regarding public motorcycle or vehicle ferries between the mainland and Ko Sichang.

Does anyone know whether such a ferry exists, and, if so, where to catch it?

Thank you. Unfortunately, there's no information on that page indicating that motorcycles can be taken aboard. If all the ferries look like this:

then I'd guess they accommodate foot traffic only.

the piers in Koh si chang are not designed for ferries that can transport vehicles. These ferries are small country boats that transfer passengers.

A day trip with the local tuk-tuks is more than enough to cover the whole island in a day.

I know you can hire motorbikes there, for a low fee. As for bringing your motorbike over, I saw a local Thai bringing his motorbike up from a boat/ferry (can't remember) and loaded it up his own pickup truck in Ko Si Chang so maybe it's possible - but he is a Thai so maybe he owns the boat and all, but if you have money nothing is impossible here. Ferry is 30B if I'm not wrong and departs everytwo hours. Still have the brochure in my house so it says - 8am, 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 4pm, 6pm, 8pm. And leave the island before 6pm, think it's the last ferry back to mainland.

And during peak hours there are the larger ferries with aircon. (Saturdays 10am) Otherwise it's the smaller ferry/boat w/o aircon.

I rode my Kawasaki Boss from Pattaya to Koh Chang a few years ago and it took me around five hours to the ferry point.

I could have cut the traveling time as i was misinformed about the distance from Pats to Koh Chang so i took my time.

I stuck it on the ferry for a small charge and rode around the island for four days.

The roads on the island are not for the faint hearted with a nasty hair-pin bend as you drop down into White sands bay after leaving the ferry.

From Center-Point-Pier to Dan-Kao-Pier

Daily 7.00, 9.00, 11.00, 13.00, 15.00 and 17.00.

Prices: 30 Baht per person, motorcycle plus 1 person 50 Baht, car plus 1 person 150 Baht,

Prices: each further passenger 30 Baht.

From Laem-Ngop-Pier to Dan-Kao-Ferry-Pier

Daily 7.00, 9.00, 11.00, 13.00, 15.00 and 17.00.

Prices: 50 Baht per person, motorcycle inclusive driver 70 Baht, car inclusive driver 125 Baht,

Prices: each further passenger 30 Baht.

From Thammachat-Pier to Ko-Chang-Ferry-Pier

Daily 7.00, 8.30, 10.00, 11.30, 13.00, 14.30, 16.00, 17.30 and 19.00.

Fridays and Saturdays additional at 21.00.

The prices are identical to those of Laem-Ngop-Piers.

The departure times of the boats do not apply to the rainy season between June and October. During the rainy season both car and passenger ferries operate on the regular timetables if the weather permits it.

They can carry small motorcycles (scooters) not big bikes (attached picture to see the setup).

 

Prices:

- 60 THB per passenger

It is a small island but worth to stay overnight. The main town is small and quiet, there are accommodations at different areas of the island. And yes, you can easily rent a small motorcycle everywhere.
