3bb Broadband

Featured Replies

Anybody here have any experience or know anything about a company called Triple T Broadband

promoting a service called 3BB Broadband?

Never heard of them before but picked up a flyer at a stall at Lotus Tesco today, offering various packages including 10Mb for approx 1600 Bhat a month.

Seems to be Phuket based and say they have six branches on the Island.

Sounds good but maybe too good.

Does anyone have it and can comment on their reliability?

I'm sick of TOT

I have both TOT and TT&T (now BBB) and without doubt BBB is far more reliable, plus if you do have a problem TT&T (BBB) have an engineer there by next day at the latest, whereas TOT takes days to respond.

Note that you will need to install a TT&T phone line if you want BBB service. That's not always so easy, depends if any lines available in your area.

I have clients with TOT line who have the BBB. The OP should give them a call and see if it is feasible in his area.

That's interesting to know. Used to be that with TOT line you could only have TOT server. I'll need to check that out, and change from TOT to BBB on our TOT line.

They say me that for triple T 10 mb connection you don't need a telephone contract (in Koh Phangan)

That's right same here, we didn't need the house owner's ID etc as no 'phone contract required.

FYI I pay 845 baht per month for 4mb ... fine for my requirements

So is it the exact same as TT&T as far as speeds, or did they do the rebrand with an upgrade in speed?

The triple B package is offering a 10 Mbit service.. Like an upgrade to the 3 Mbit of maxnet premier.

I was told only a couple of months ago this was bangkok region only.. And would not be on Phuket (this was AFTER the signs and advertising started here) by the ever helpful and well informed TT&T service line. If it is available I will upgrade now.

For Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Pratumthani and Samutprakran, Maxnet allows using only internet without telephone subscription.

So anyone on Phuket actually have this service working ??

I still have the 4 Mb/ 1 Mb cause its prepayed until desember. However they say the 10Mb is available here in Kata right now at 1595 baht/month. 2 months ago they said it was unavailable in Phuket.

Internett without telephone subscription has been available in Phuket at least a year from TT&T/3BB. saves 100 baht/month.

I had always understood the same thing - TOT line so must be TOT service. Can anybody confirm that accounts that have been TOT (line and servers) can be changed to BBB or any other service. I feel terribly ripped off everytime I pay my TOT bill.

As many posters have stated, you can get bbb without a telephone line, so whether or not one has TOT is superfluous.

A short phone call can confirm.

This is really very strange!

I was yesterday at the shop of TT&T in Central Festival. I wanted to stop my Jinet connection and change for Maxnet from TT&T.

I use Jinet since about 5 years with a TT&T phoneline. And since I came back this year, end of september, I am losing the internet connection all the time (with the same computer, the same router, the same modem).

TT&T came to check the phoneline, it was ok.

The helpdesk from Jinet in Bangkok could not help me (they do not have helpdesk in Phuket....!). I have been on the line with them Three times for about 40 minutes....

So, I decided to change for Maxnet.

At Central they told me that this is not possible for the moment (they even sent me to the Cat Telecom shop!!!!!).

They can not accept new subscribers now. They have to install a new "card" (that is the word I understood) and that will be done in the next 2 months. So, after that I can change and subscribe for Maxnet...or whatever they call it now.

I am very interested to know more about this new(?) provider if it does exist as I pay now for 24/24 and can use my internet only 5 minutes at a time and in one day. The longest connection that I had in the past 2 weeks was about one hour (but without email!).

Please, please, please, if somebody knows more about this help me!

Phone call to where? I am interested.

Obviously to BBB.

Obviouslt not!!! :)

There is no BBB website, unless you want the Better Business Bureau.

The website is www.3BB(dot)co.th, and the call center number is 1530

Has anybody signed up with this outfit?

Here is their price list.

I noticed that they have the 10 Mb/1 Mb service for 1,490 baht/mth and also a 4 Mb/1 Mb Premeire package for 2,500 baht/mth -- I'm confused!

Thanks for the link Beacher.

They also have 3BB HDTV promos in their pages. All in Thai but did i understand correctly they are offering IPTV in HD format for around 2,500 baht per month... ?

I tried to apply for this service and went along to the TTNT office in Central Festival... I was told by a very helpful guy there that my house was a bit far from the "pole" and I would not get the full 10Mb but I would be able to have about 7Mb. Well I told him if I can get 7 Mb I would be over the moon...and he told me to go to the new office on the By Pass Rd. I went along there and the girl that served me did not seem to know what she was talking about... Infact all the people in the office seemed all new and "not quite with it". Anyway the girl told me it was not available at my location in Chalong... when the guy in TTNT had told me it was. I tried to explain this to her but all I got was a blank expression!! So the other day I was in Central again and noticed that BBB had opened a small office by Powerbuy.. so I asked the girl there if I could have the service.. She told me she did not know but took my phone number and said she would phone me back the next day which was Friday... STILL WAITING...

This isn't looking very encouraging. Nobody has been able to verify that the service is even really available, let alone its quality.

Talking to Woody, our resident computer expert on the island, plus asking at the TT&T shop, the 10mb for 1490baht is an Indy type line, so will have shitty international bandwidth. Bit of a scam Indy is really. I wouldn't even call "internet" but rather "intranet", since as soon as you try to acesss the internets outside Thailand, your speeds drop drastically. Not so much with premier. Last time I checked, not very much of the internets were based on servers in Thailand. As far as TT&T (Or whatever they are calling themselves at the moment) the 3mb premier line seems to be the sweet spot.
