Recruiters/agents - What To Look For, What To Avoid

Featured Replies

Does anyone have any advice regarding working through a recruiter? I've been away from BKK for a few years and my network is cold, the economy is poor, so I'm thinking to try a recruiter to get things rolling quickly.

Best to avoid agencies; try ajarn.com - create a CV online and send it to any job advertised. Print up copies of your CV and degrees and go to as many interviews as possible - you should find suitable work as quick, if not quicker than going on an agency's books. I don't believe that the economy is as poor as you make out; Thais continue to spend on education and there are jobs to be had.

Good luck.

Education is somewhat recession proof--not exactly, but it fares better than other sectors. Secondly, there is a high rate of teacher turnover, so openings are generally available.

Usually IMO it's agencies that respond to the ajarn CV posting service but you might be lucky.

Try Googling some school contact info in your area and just pay a visit to the schools. Many Thai schools rely on walk-ins as they have no idea where or how to find foreign teachers through the Internet.
