A 68-year-old Japanese man was killed when a fire broke out at his rented room in the Siam Penthouse Condominium in Bangkok's Klong Toey district early Tuesday.

The burnt body of Sacho Ichimitsu was found inside his room on the ninth floor of the condominium after fire fighters spent half an hour to put out the blaze.

His Japanese wife ran out for help following the fire but it spread quickly and no one could rush in to rescue her husband.

IIRC Siam Penthouse is in soi 6, opposite that church. Not exactly a Klong Thoey Slum fire.

It's actually in Soi 8, about halfway down the soi, opposite a 7-11. It neighbours a new condo called Siri On 8, which is located next to Le Banyan restaurant. Siam Penthouse would be one of the older condo's in Soi 8, at least 20 yrs old I think.
