I think that I will just wait and see what happens

Everyone is afforded that option

Yeah, there'll still be a world without the US the same as it went on after the Romans and the British Empire.

Sadly it is not just the US in jeopardy. Due to many factors most of the developed world is tied to it now.

Pretty much all of that has been said by Glenn Beck on Fox News. :)

Dont know as I rarely watch TV & never Fox News

It seems currencies other than the US$ might be in jeopardy as well.

No maybe about it....

Yeah, but it might be like the lastest installment of the "Mad Max" series. tongue.gif

Would Mel Gibson be up to another one?

Son of Max??

Pretty much all of that has been said by Glenn Beck on Fox News. :)

The replay of his show comes on at 14:00 Tue-Sat Thailand time. If you're awake early enough you can catch it live sometime around 05:00.

I realize watching Fox News might not seem like something you want to do - or be caught doing - especially if you learn that you agree with them.

Glenn Beck has two main themes - first, the Progressives are coming to get us, and second, US Dollar is in deep shit. His views on the US dollar, China, the Fed, etc sound VERY much like what you write here.

If you don't get the channel, here is a video link from Beck's show you might find interesting:

The One Thing: 2/2

The national debt steals from our children's future and dishonors our past

http://video.foxnews.com/#/v/3999151/the-o...aylist_id=86937

from link, "Mr. President, everyone has a boss. Your boss is China".

If I can spend 30 minutes watching Alex's Italian-Communist produced anti-American "documentary" , maybe you can watch this for 16 minutes. :D

I concur.

Yes I watched it & will say I have seen Beck quite a few times before although on You Tube.

I do not agree that his views are like mine at all... If anyone thinks that then they really do not know my views.

He is really a Neocon riding the coat tails of what is popular at the time & switches gears as needed.

I liked the Jefferson quotes of course :D

While he likes to talk about how mortgages & credit cards should be shut down by the banks faster I would tend to say mortgages should have been the first truly to be helped & not just help the banks that knew full well when they gave ninja loans...that ultimately they would fail as has been the case.

Yes we are beholding to China as I mentioned but not as he paints it. He tries in that video to make it sound like the China cyber attacks are giving away military secrets & because we owe them money we allow it....You cannot really believe that? Stealing things like Harry Potter etc is not the same.....As CIA type attacks on military secrets that he alludes to.

Depression like he spoke of yes but via default on our debt.

I do agree with what he said about getting out of debt at the personal level & many folks still live way beyond their means.

He tries to make JP Morgan look like a saint for giving the US gold....He does not realize what the US soon after gave JP Morgan. Look to The Creature from Jekyll Island for info on that. JP & others did not give anything they bought the best way to control the US not through military strength but by gaining control of the creation of what they call money

All in all the You tubes I have seen & this re-broadcast included reaffirms my belief that Beck is a Neocon that likes to often say ....but I am a Libertarian....At Heart

Yeah right...Ever hear him slamming Ron Paul because of Ron Paul's stance on our foreign policy & our willingness to go to war on borrowed money? Yet he...Beck then stands in front of the Debt Clock & does not see what one of the largest debt creators is?

Do not forget Beck was not only 100% pro TARP he said it should be bigger & now complains about debt? Because that is popular & gets TV ratings?

mmmmm Folks can do better than right or left TV. One thing nice about the information highway is there is a lot to be learned there for free. Yes you need to sort the wheat from the chaff but that in itself is also an education

Spend 16 minutes looking at this GB guy.

What a joke he is.

:)

No reason to jump off a bridge. Economies go up and down. That is their nature. Right now no one is doing too well, but there is a very good chance that things will improve in the long run. :)

China's and Australia's economies are still in positive growth, albeit at a slower rate.

In this case, using the term "no one" is actually a figure of speech, but two countries that are not exactly thriving - out of most of the others on the planet - does not exactly negate the fact that the world economy is not exactly at its all-time best. :)

Taliban Rape Tapes: A 'Muslim Abu

Ghraib'http://bigjournalism.com/bthor/2010/02/12/taliban-rape-tapes-a-muslim-abu-ghraib/

Recently, this mid-level Taliban commander shared a chilling story with me. He told me it was a scandal that would rock the Muslim world like nothing before and that it would “devastate” the Haqqani network. “What Abu Ghraib was for you Americans,” he said, “this will be for the Haqqanis; only worse.”

A Muslim Abu Ghraib? Considering the horrific violence that the Haqqanis had perpetrated to date, I had trouble imagining what they could have done now that would suddenly have the power to enflame the Muslim world. After all, that kind of outrage is normally reserved for terrible insults by the West, like cartoons, operas, or free speech. Then, my contact told me his story. It made me absolutely sick to my stomach.

As Siraj Haqqani moved from village to village, rounding up the sons of poor Muslim families to fight for the Taliban and Al Qaeda, he offered the villagers free medical care. He even sent his physician, Dr. Hassan Duraz to conduct the clinics. There was a horrific catch, though. Duraz was a monster.

He arrived in each village with Siraj Haqqani’s uncle, Ibrahim, and Siraj’s cousin, Ishak, in tow. With them, the Haqqanis brought along their own very special tools of terror – a video camera and an eye for human flesh. You see, with Haqqani healthcare, you not only received a medical exam, if you were an attractive young girl, you also got a screen test. And heaven forbid you passed.

For those women and girls unfortunate enough to catch the good doctor’s fancy, it was show time. The Haqqani uncle and cousin would be brought into the exam room, they would set up their video equipment, and Duraz would drop his trousers and go to work.

The Haqqanis and Duraz sexually assaulted poor women throughout the tribal regions and captured every moment of their degradation and humiliation on video to enjoy over and over again.

Times were good for the Haqqani pornography ring. Their enterprise thrived until someone slipped up and word leaked out. In the blink of an eye, Siraj Haqqani was in big trouble.

Taliban Rape Tapes: A 'Muslim Abu

Are we back to swapping rape stories?

Perhaps we could start a thread about Catholic priests in the US ?

I realize many have been conditioned to believe something isn't true unless the New York Times or maybe the BBC reports it first. In the meantime you can watch the tape and read the transcript for yourself.

As far as I know the Catholic priests didn't go around murdering their victims to keep the story a secret. But feel free to start that thread. :)

Catholics, like Muslims, committed atrocities in many countries, but one hopes that all Catholics, or all Muslims, wont be judged by the actions of a few.

Interestingly, I do believe the occasional BBC story unless it's about Communism. The pseudo-liberal New York Times... I always look for the angle.

As far as I know too.....But then again I do not know personally any Catholic priests....

But the point being it is still just a side street...Much like the US soldiers that raped a 14 yr old girl & then killed the whole family of the rape victim & torched them to keep their secret..

Yes those 4 were caught & yes are doing time...

Anyone believe that is an isolated incident?

"Graphic video"? Maybe I watched the wrong one.... a bit of tame sex with a passive woman.

Talk about sensationalising things.

This one would be more graphic descriptive...........

This guy admits raping a 15 yr old then pimping her out for 50 bucks a pop.

Said he was making 500 a day till the 15 yr old hung herself

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DmPdZjkjyY

I think the point of Abu Ghraib and it's consequences was that it showed that the West could no longer claim the high moral ground.

A Republican commentator in the US, and I've lost the link, pointed out that if we have to become like our enemies to win then we have lost.

Any student of military history can find examples of atrocities against women and children committed by both sides in most conflicts.

As an occasional reader of Kipling's reports and stories of earlier Afghan wars I recall that British soldiers were told to "keep the last bullet for yourself".

I doubt much has changed since those days.

It's both hilarious and sad at the same time watching you three defend the systematic rape of young girls by Taliban leaders by claiming "rape happens all the time". Very revealing.

Seems it revealed yet another misunderstanding.

Actually I never defend either side. What I have stated more than once is it is all side streets.

These side streets only detract from the main street.

What I try to point out is equal atrocities can be found on both sides. It does not address the heart of the matter.

If folks want to use crimes as a basis for invasion/occupation of a whole country where does it end?

You SAY that you never defend either side, but you only attack one side. Do you know the meaning of the word "hypocrite? :)

By "you three" I take it that you include me.

If I watched the wrong vid...which I conceded was possible.... then I have not made a pertinant comment.

However, if the vid I watched, which was the one on the link, was what you are referring to, then my comment,

Graphic video"? Maybe I watched the wrong one.... a bit of tame sex with a passive woman.

Talk about sensationalising things.

was not "defending" rape in any way whatsoever.

My point was that the vid did not appear to show rape, did not appear to be violent, and did not neccessarily show Taliban leaders, yet you AND the writer of the article sensationalised this flimsy, random, meaningless video as "graphic" "rape" etc.

Also, I have never defended rape in any way, let alone with the argument, "it happens all the time".

Furthermore, it seems that you offered this link as some sort of defense for American atrocities.....which in itself is an attempt at defense of rape.

Furthermore....your attempt is pointless because of the reasons I have listed above.

Talk about hilarious and sad at the same time!

Well you can spell it but that does not guarantee you comprehend it ...obviously.

If you look at my posts in the context that they were intended you will see that a rebuttal to a proclaimed reason for occupation is not defending a side nor attacking the other. In contrast it is the object that the rebuttal is directed at that is attempting to defend unjust actions.

Lastly why would someone need to defend an attacker? In this discussion which was based on Afghanistan there is only one aggressor/occupier. One who is spending dollars they do not have to do so.

One last time for your benefit...I have always stated the side tracks only lead away from the heart of the matter. Talk of rapes etc can be equally shown on both sides... Is that clear enough for you?

Excuse Mr. Doesn't-Take-Sides, I have to admit that you understand the word hypocrite even more than I thought. :D

You SAY that you never defend either side, but you only attack one side.

100% spot on.

Ok boys this merry go round is...well going in circles isn't it.

I started the thread with some pictures of current events in Afghanistan.

Since then we have gone back & forth & it is quite evident there are roughly

a 50/50 mix of views & never the twain shall meet.

Some feel it is an unjust occupation undeclared war that will never end.

A war that is basically funded with future generations $$$ & blood.

A war that will have the same end result as Vietnam...none

Others feel it is just & rightful payback for what 19 did on 9-11

In any case since there is no new blood in this thread & it could go on & on

I see no further point to it. If I should see any news worth posting I will do so.

Perhaps we will all meet again in a Iran thread although I hope not.

Enjoy your valentines day as I know it is Valentines over in your part of the world.

Surprising to see you all posting here in fact???

Tomorrow will be Valentines here.

Take Care

Enjoy :)

I'm not defending rape, just expressing scepticism about your source.
