Car Rental In Chiang Rai

Featured Replies

Hi , Have decided to rent car in CR , Explore north and then travel along eastern mountain range taking in Phu Chi Fa and then onto Phayao arriving in Phitsanulok .Five days in total

Am looking for rental companys that facilitate Chiang Rai pick up and Phitsanulok drop off.

I know budget & Avis acommodate this arrangement . Both charge xtra 3000bts for different pick up/drop off points. When factoring this into pricing it will cost approx 2100 bts per day .

Anyone know of any other companys who might facilitate my requirement cheaper. Thanks

You could ask around the smaller places about a car and driver deal. These can work out surprisingly cheap, and the driver just takes the car back when you're finished.

edit: And it helps in finding the way around if your written Thai is a bit rusty and you come to signposts. :)

i had bad luck with avis. honda jazz (old!) broke down and they didnt have enough staff to come replace the car. wanted me to drive it (under very dangerous mechanical conditions) to the airport for a switch... they could only replace the jazz with a big van, but couldnt deliver it....

thai car rent was better, new jazz, better service i guess, but the stereo was under theft lock and required a code that they couldnt give me. i went 3 days without any music, and was offered no discount.

have always had great results with budget car rent.... top notch...

tried a few of the no name services in town, they are ok enough , but check the details if you damage the car. there is insurance but you are expected to pay the day rate for every day the car is out fo service getting repaired///
