Many factors come into play when choosing your medical insurance - age being one.

As you are retiring, that may limit the options so may we suggest you use the Thai Visa Brokers service ?

Please go Here

Thanks, I am in the 63k range for the 5 million cover, If I take the 40k excess and the outpatient reduction

does that mean I get 45% off the cost leaving me a cost of 34650 baht ?

Many thanks

Sorry no, the discounts are worked out then that sum has the second (or more) discounts deducted.

sorry mr./ms. BupaThailand.... for retirement you do not look appropriate!

A retiring man is assumed to be 55+ and you want to exclude any "pre-existing condition". i.e. if one unlicky answer is "yes i take pill for digestion" you are rapid in excluding all the forms of stomach sickness and cancer etc.

Same way... if a man is just taking a pill for the blood pressure, without any sickness, only for the sake of prre-serve his age and health, you are fast to exclude the refund of any heart related sickness (which nowadays are 50% of the patology!!!).

If in spite of all that you have many customers, please tell me how i can become shareholder of Bupa .... it is a business!!!

I paid for "Thai Health Insurance" for myself, my wife and child for two years. One claim for my wife at Burmrungrad was more money than the policy cost for one year. After two years with "Thai Health Insurance" the policy offered by BUPA Thailand through our insurance broker, Eric Dohlan in Phuket at Insurance-in- Thailand.com was a better value. Lower cost, higher coverage so for two years I paid for Bupa Platinum IN PATIENT coverage and both years received a 10% policy rebate check and 10% family plan reduction in the initial policy fee. Last week I had an unplanned operation and overnight hospital stay at Bangkok Christian Hospital in Bangkok.

http://www.bkkchristianhosp.th.com/main_service.asp?lang=E

and the service was top notch, the facilities and equipment very state of the art and the cost was less than a minor procedure my wife had at Burmrungrad three years ago. I listened to my insurance Broker, brought my BUPA card and a copy of my passport and notified BUPA upon admission. The next evening when I was released there was a statement showing all the costs 100% were covered by BUPA and I was in the VIP suite in the new building with two LCD TV's, two full bathrooms and plenty of room for the Thai relatives to visit and not be in my space. The two Doctors, and all the technicians spoke and understood English very well, the nurses were not as proficient with English, but had better attitudes (although not as skimpy of uniforms) as www.yanhee.net. The anesthesiologist assured me in English she would not let me down like Dr. Conrad Murray.

It is easy to see what coverage you can obtain for your age at what is the premium if you check out the web sites of the various Thailand based health insurance companies. A good Insurance broker can give you his opinion based on real world experiences of his clients. There was ZERO run around with BUPA or this premier hospital last week. A KEY FACTOR was me taking the responsibility to phone BUPA prior to admission and with presenting my valid BUPA card and a copy of my passport the first morning.
