Is this your first extension?

First extension the money must have been in bank 2 months.

After that 3 months.

You could apply for a two months extension based on marriage.

That would get your money seasoned.

Get a one time 60 days extension of stay based on 'visit Thai wife'. After that period your money deposit will be seasond for the required 3 months and then apply for a one year extension.

You have to leave when your extension runs out. Then you apply for a fresh non-imm O visa. With this new visa you get another 3 months and on 1. April you can get one year extension as your 400 000 has been in your account for the 3 months as requested

No need for that in the OP's case!

As Poor Sucker pointed out if it is the first time the OP applies for an extension based on funds in the bank then two months is enough, otherwise get a 60 days extension.

Hi guys . . .

this is my 2nd time extension . . .

I thought I remember reading that if the cash hadn't been in long enough, then immigration

just hold up the visa extension until the money was sufficiently seasoned . .

No this is certainly not the case! (I speak from experience at BKK Imm - was 5 days short of requirement)

Go for the 60 days extension, the only additional cost is 1,900B for the application.

I remember being given an extra week sometime within the last 2 years. Would this have 'used up'

the once only 60 days, and how can I check if so?

The 60 day has no such limitation - in the past it said one time but had no definition - it does not say that now. But you can not obtain consecutively without other entries between them.

So:

Put money in account 01 Jan, Mid Feb request 60 day extension?, sometime in March start 1 year extension process?

OR

apply for the extension now?

Yes but apply for the one year extension only by about early/mid-April.

My current extension expires on Jan 05 2010, my 400,000 baht would've been in my Thai bank account for 90 days on Dec 10, so when would should I apply for my new visa extension. How long should a visa renewal application be made prior to the current extensions expiry date. Thanks.

Best to do several weeks early just in case some paperwork needs update or something. I would go any time after December 10. As long as not more than 30 days early most offices welcome you doing it.

I just got a 90-day visa last week and until I just saw your message above I had been planning to visit immigration tomorrow to extend it to one year. But you are saying that it cannot be extended until after 60 days...?? At that time I will be out of the country for about 2 months during which the 90 day visa will expire, so I guess it means I will have to start over again with another trip to an embassy to get another 90-day visa...! :)

They may well do it early if you have a good reason. Dont forget that if you are extending based on marriage you have to go back in 30 days to get your stamp.

It is worth asking them.

Well I asked them (Khon Kaen Immigation Office) and they said no. So I will have to start over again at a later date. Ah well, it was worth a try.

I have another question:

If you show the 400K baht as they require.

After applying and within the period of the "under consideration" stamp (waiting for the 1 year extention of course).

Can you use some of the money of the 400K statement you showed them? or need to wait till they actually stamp the 1 year extention on the passport?

waiting for an answer asap.

Thank you.

Yes you can use some of the money.

Are you sure about it?

Can you give me the reference in the law/immigration rules?

I need to be sure as I don't want to mistake with it.

Thank you.

People, many, have had there approval delayed for dipping into funds during the under review period. When sent to Bangkok a check would be made of account balance and if below requirement no approval would be made until it was above.

But believe that has not happened since the change to two/three month in account prior to application so probably is old news.

Just talked with immigration, as to immigration office woman; there is no guarantee of visa approval if you use the money or even some of it as the officer incharge may check the bank balance and see you have less money than the stated 400K baht therefor your visa may be denied !

:) Of course you can use the money and risk your visa ...
