Difference Between 3bb And Triple T 3 Mb Premier Internet.

Recommended Posts

After many years waiting I finally received my TT&T cable to my house in Kathu ( Phuket )

As I’m not in the country my wife organized the internet connection.

She went to Triple T to get the 3 Mb Premier internet connection.

But she told me that the price is about 1000 baht a month and therefore I think that she got the 3BB 3 Mb premier package. ( TT&T website mention 1990 Baht for Triple T and 1090 baht for 3BB 3Mb package )

Both are from TT&T I believe so is there any difference between the 3BB and triple T Premier 3Mb package regarding the internet speed in Phuket ?

Both packages have exactly the same setup and service.

Thanks for all info.

From what I can tell the 3Mbit premier is much more stable and solid, mine does 3 mbit or close international all day every day.. The triple T service is comparable to the indy, fast when it works but up and down like a yoyo.

I have 3Mbit premier from 3bb/triple T for 4 month already. It works great the whole time. International speed 4Mbit download and upload 0,5-0,8Mbit to USA and Europe. No complaints.

How do you get 4Mbit out of the 3Mbit Premier line ??

3bb makes it possible normally, today its a bit slowly, :)

Download Speed: 3060 kbps (382.5 KB/sec transfer rate)

Upload Speed: 780 kbps (97.5 KB/sec transfer rate)

San Francisco

they only call the package 3Mbit premier

speed can be faster up to your location.

If I look into my modem where the maximum connection possible is shown I get 3076 on the downstream.. It cannot physically go faster than that connection (without upgrade or reconfig at the DSLAM).

Would be interested to know what your modems downstream kps handshakes at ??

Singapore:

Download Speed:

3941 kbps (492.6 KB/sec transfer rate)

Upload Speed: 446 kbps (55.8 KB/sec transfer rate)

Latency: 155 ms

So speed is normal again. My modem is comtrend open 10Mbit. But i only pay for 3 Mbit, so its fair that they give me 4Mbit.

No not a speedtest, inside the modem control and config pages it will give you a downstream connection speed.. Yours has to be connecting at higher than 3Mbit so I wonder what it is.. That setting is picked up from the DSLAM (digital head end / exchange) and mine is 3072 and has been since the upgrade from 2Mbit a while back. I thought everyone on 3Mbit premier was.

So here it is. Modem control: Line Rate - Downstream (Kbps):4731.

This was it what you meant or?

Download Speed: 4447 kbps (555.9 KB/sec transfer rate)

Upload Speed: 488 kbps (61 KB/sec transfer rate)

:) Real no complaints.

Have a look at there website, you pay 590 baht per month for the 3MB service... but get 4MB noticed last week when in Big C

3BB 4 Mb

The 590 baht one is the old indy service.. Less reliable..

The 3Mbit premier is 1090 plus vat (so 1166 IIRC) and is 3076 down and 1024 up.. Or at least thats what I have..

They list all the connections, speeds and prices here.

http://www.3bb.co.th/product/adsl/4mb.php

And clearly list 3Mbit premier at 3076/1024.. as I am seeing schlogs uploads at sub 512 I suspect hes not on the contract he thinks hes on. Could be the 5Mbit down 512 up Indy at 790 plus VAT ??

I am sure on the contract, 3Mbit premier, pay 1166.30 Bath per month, 4 month already, uploads are between 0,5-0.9 Mbit normaly. Since last week uploads are around 0,5 Mbit only. If proof wanted send BM.

Hey no need for proof.. But you wouldnt be the first person I have heard of to get an indy sign up and a premier bill.. Happened to another guy I know..

How stable is the line ?? Do you get periods of downtime ??

Hey LOS, I have paid for Indy in Patong for over 3 years , costs about 1,076 baht/month, I'm using it right now, and my router shows 1,024 Kbps Down and a horrible 32 Kbps Up. Think I am being ripped off, must talk to them tomorrow. :)

2 factors will determine you connection / handshake speed (in the modem not the real speed as tested).

The settings at the DSLAM (your account)

The line quality (the copper between the modem and the exchange)

If the line quality is low, the exchange will reconnect to get a lower more stable line with less DB signal loss. In a previous house they actually lowered my upstream speeds to create more line stability.

If you paying 107x for Indy you are most certainly indy 6Mbit.. Maybe move from Indy to Premier or see if you can get a line tech to attempt to clean up the line. I had hel_l up above Phuket beverly for years, with them blaming my lines in the house and everything, finally one tech admitted that the exchage below was old and corroded and messy, helped me more to a new junction box and the line jumped in quality.

Probably becoming a tech forum thread tho.. sorry.

All 2 Mbit customers of premier got a free upgrade to 3Mbit a ways back.. the 'old version' invoices used to be clear on what account but the new style ones are cryptic as to the actual package.

But interestingly your another person with a >3Mbit premier connection do you pay the 1090 (1166 with VAT) price or are you on the 4Mbit 1990 package ??

I use the net real hard, had no downtime in 4 month. In my opinion is the line stable, no matter what day or time, you get between 3Mbit - 4.4Mbit.

Compared with my CAT line before, its cool now.

Has anyone here experience with the 8Mbit Premier? How fast is it then? 9 Mbit download?

Maybe its worth to upgrade on it.

Dont know.. I was interested in the 3BB 10Mbit (10 down 1 up) they list for 1490 baht.. Initially it was bangkok only but told its now here too.

When I asked around I was told its 'indy like' in that the line speeds bounce from good to bad, but the fact that good is 10 mbit your probably better than a mid or low end premier. What worried me was the line stability which I was told is more prone to drop offs.

Basically for the first time in a decade I have rock solid internet.. I am loathe to jinx it chasing a speed increase.

If what you have now is working good, I would not upgrade. After any change you have no idea what you're going to end up with, a on paper faster connection can be slower, and getting things sorted here ....

Stick with what you have, provided it is working good and meets your requirements of course.
