Report Resort Employee in Phuket Shares CCTV Footage to Identify Thief
Photo via Facebook/ Chanattha Chatchanan In-om In a determined effort to catch a thief, an employee at the Seeka Boutique Resort in Patong, Phuket, has turned to social media. The employee, identified as Chanattha Chatchanan In-om, shared CCTV footage on her Facebook page after 4,000 baht was stolen from the resort's reception counter. The incident, which took place on June 5 at around 1am, was captured on video. The footage shows the suspect, whose gender remains unclear, cautiously approaching the reception desk. After ensuring no one was watching, the suspect swiftly took the cash and left the premises. In her Facebook post, Chanattha urged the public to help spread the video, expressing dismay over the theft. "She is terrible," Chanattha wrote. "I understand we are facing an economic crisis, but you should not do this. Why are you so greedy?" The resort manager, Mooyong, revealed to the media that the suspect accompanied a foreign guest who had not notified the hotel of their additional companion. The suspect reportedly caused a commotion when approached by another staff member for not being a registered guest. She insisted she was staying with the foreign man and demanded that he be contacted to confirm her stay. Mooyong suspects that the thief may have been familiar with the resort's operations and believes the act was premeditated. This suspicion arises partly because of the suspect's quick and deliberate actions, suggesting prior knowledge of the staff's routines. As the case unfolds, the resort has filed a complaint with the local police, but there have been no updates regarding the suspect's identification or arrest. The incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing challenges businesses face with security, especially in economically challenging times. Adapted by ASEAN Now from The Thaiger 2025-06-10
