This year I shall bring personal effects, mainly worthless cr@p, into Thailand (Khao Lak), and thanks to the posts on this topic under Visa & Immigration Forums > Thai visas, residency and work permits, I know what to expect regarding documents, customs clearance, using agents, bribes, etc, etc.

My questions are as follows:

1 Has anyone imported stuff through Phuket sea port (if this is indeed possible), and how was the experience?

2 Does anyone have any views on whether it's preferable (i.e. cheaper and less hassle) to import through Bangkok or Songkhla rather than Phuket?

3. Does anyone have experience of the following import agents based in Phuket: Global GEO, Connex, SMBP Phuket, or T&M Express?

I want to sort this end out before I leave for UK and send the stuff.

I used surface post from my home country (20 boxes 18" x 24"). Cheap and goods delivered to local post office... no bribes, no hassles.

PS - took about six weeks...

As far as I know household goods can only be imported via Bangkok and Laem Chabang.

Did the same for Phuket.

It all goes through Bangkok so do it from there.

I had things delivered to Phuket and then they got sent back to BKK for their it of the pie before being delivered back to Phuket!

shipped a 20foot container with householdgoods from Scandinavia to Phuket. By ship to BKK at 35.000 baht, customs in BKK (payed agent something to avoid customs, didnt have a Non Imm O), truck to Phuket. Container had never been opened when arrived my home in Phuket

If its worthless crap are you sure you want to pay customs the bribe to clear it ?

I moved 3 tonnes via air cargo.. Cleared on Phuket.. Currently have a crate in the air also and not looking forward to the haggle I will have to do on that in the next few days !!

only like 10k baht for customs to not open container and approve it. payed to agents bank account
