Hello everyone!

Me and my girlfriend are flying to BKK soon for 3 weeks of holidays. I'm from Sweden and she's from Colombia but she have been living in Europe for the last 3-4 years. The problem is, Colombia is on the list of countries on the thai embassy website that says "if you're from one of these countries you need to show the certificate".

Adding to the problem, she is allergic to the vaccine. She have another certificate, from her doctor in Germany (she lives there right now), saying that she's in fact allergic to the vaccine. But will that be enough? Or will they ask for the certificate, and if she doesn't want to take the shot "there", she won't be allowed in?

We will be flying from Sweden and she haven't been to Colombia for a year or so.

I've been flying in to BKK plenty of times and I've never ever shown my yellow fever vaccine certificate.

Normally it's only needed when the plane is coming from this country, not when you're arriving from Sweden.

Thanks for the fast reply. Yes, that's what I've read as well, but I'm guessing the first thing the immigration officer will check is her passport, which is Colombian, and then check his/her checklist of what to do, and it might say "check the yellow fever certificate". Or something like that.

And, I just phoned to the Thai embassy here in Sweden, they said she might need to show her certificate and that the certificate she's got instead saying she's allergic MAY work. But they also said they don't know anything about it since they're working at the embassy, not at the immigration.

Not sure but I believe that they may ask her how long ago since she was in Columbia. If she says 3 years, and her passport doesn't show any trips there...although as a Columbian national I don't actualy know if her passport would show arrivals in Columbia or not...anyhow if she has not been there in 3 years I don't think they will force her to be vacinated. It also might be possible they will require to see a doctor within a week. If she shows no sign of yelow fever symptoms then, they will just say she's clean, no problem, thank you and have a nice holiday.

:D

P.S. I haven't had my shot record even looked at on arrival in Bangkok in years, although my arrivals have all been from Europe.
