Australian Visa For A Brit

Featured Replies

I am going to sunny Brisbane for a week. Surfers Paradise!

I have been to OZ 3 times before, as recently as 2002, but can't remember how I got my visa :o

Would it still be valid?

I know it is electronic now.

I tried the Embassy in Bangkok on the phone but kept getting messages and it is pretty confusing as I can't actually talk to anyone.

I will persevere, but if anyone can give me a quick response I would be grateful.

Go to the above Australian government website. As a Pom, you are eligible for an invisible ‘Electronic Travel Authority’ which you get from this site. It costs AUD$20 (£8 or 600 Baht). You need a credit card to pay for it though. Takes about 5 minutes to issue it.

and you do need this visa - it will be checked when you check in for your flight. No visa, no go. I travel to Oz quite often and always just get my visa online.

yep, be aware that Australia require everyone except Kiwi's to have a pre-arranged visa before they travel. They just make it easier from some nationalities to get it than others.

Thanks for the replies.

I must have gone to the embassy and paid it the last time. I did have to go with my wife.

I don't have a credit card but saw something about a cashier's cheque on the website.
