Shipping Stuff Back To The Uk

Featured Replies

Well, I bunged this in General yesterday and have been almost knocked down in the rush. Hmm; I should have trusted my initial instincts and posted it in here. At least I'll get something here even if it's only sarcastic... :)

Anyway, as the titile implies, I have a quantity of odds and ends to go back to Blighty. Nothing big, just some books, clothes and assorted bits and bobs. Probably no more than 30 - 40kilos, all of which should go into a medium-sized cardboard box. Does anyone have any ideas/experience about the best/cheapest/safest way to get it home? I imagine surface would be cheaper than air (speed is not important) but it may be less secure. Yes? No?

Any suggestions gratefully received. Cheers! :D

UPS..they have locations all over Thailand and ship anywhere in the free world and are the safest way to ship.

You can do 25 kilo boxes which can contain up to 35 kilos in weight. Just take your time filling out the papers

and be sure to properly declare everything inside the box.....you'll find someone there that speaks English and can

advise you on the different shipping options and rates...

I have worked with these guys for nearly a decade. They are the agents for a London based company, Kangaroo International, and will probably be cheaper, faster, and safer than any of the big companies as they have the persoanl touch and really care about their customers.

If you do decide to go with them, tell Christian that the Kiwi guy sent you. (I don't get a kick-back, it's just good for him to know).

Harcourt is Kiwi? Well that changes everything.

"ME TOO." :D a Kiwi.

Wonder if I have some everything to change.

Gunna have a looksee...... :)

Cheers, Harcourt. Are they Bangkok based only or do they have branches across the country? I tried going to that web address but it's just a blank page... :)

Try the main guys in London. www.superoo.com

My mate is here in Samui sorting out her house & asked at the post office how much to send a 25kg box back to Adelaide. She was quoted 2.6k baht & takes 3 months. UPS was over 5k baht but took 2 days. She also asked how much for a section of a container from a firm in BKK & was told that is was a minimum of 4 cubic squared & was 2k USD!!!

My two cents-worth.

When I left Hong Kong I had stuff to ship back. Not over-much, but enough to make courier services like DHL and UPS damned expensive.

Went to Pickfords and they had a minimum of 1 cu. metre, but about 1/10th the rate of UPS. I did not have a cu.m. worth, so I added my maid's fold-up bed to the box at no extra charge. Still got it. Dumped most of the other stuff.

Contact Raro (the BM), or Santa Fe (the company), who should be more helpful than I.

Cheers, Boo. Yeah, I wondered about the Post Office. I have to go past there today so I'll find out. I'm not bothered about the time it takes; just want it there eventually. Whatever it is, I expect it to be better than UPS and TNT. For 35kgs, door-to-door, they're quoting 14-15K. Gulp.

Thanks, Humph. Yep, I've seen that with the couriers; damned good if you have some urgent documents that need to be somewhere in a hurry but for anything else, prohibitively expensive. Pickfords sound good though. I'll give them a try. Cheers!
