However, at these places you would have to keep an extensive portfolio and sell by volume, rather than image-by-image to publications, to be able to turn a profit. If you manage to appeal to a wide audience you do have a semi-stable income though.

Not true. You can. They changed the list in by Royal Decree in 1979. Connfirmed by the Alien Business Act 1999 which became Law in 2000. I believe the one frequently quoted is the one from 1973 which is still pinned on TV somewhere. It should really be changed. Look here:
