Border Run (urgent)

Recommended Posts

If you need an extension you get that from immigration here in Bangkok - but will assume you need a new 30 day entry stamp as you have no visa so for that a trip to Cambodia is required - this is an all day trip and several companies make daily trips by comfortable bus for about 2,000 baht all inclusive. They advertise in Bangkok Post and you can find them mentioned here if you do a search. You should make reservations first.

Guys, please help me out here. I need this info very urgently as I need to exit by the 18th this month. Where is the nearest place to drive to for the 30 days visa extension. What's the distance and the expediture?

I would like to drive up myself instead of taking the bus up. Does Cambodia happens to be the nearest if I were to drive up from Bangkok?

Poipet is the nearest (and most popular) crossing to Cambodia, it's about 500km round trip so you can work out your fuel costs.

At least for your first run I'd go with one of the bus trips.

Jacks Golf is recommended, 2000 Baht and a passport photo required. They walk you through the process and feed you as well.

Honestly much nicer than driving.

I/d go along with that Crossy at least for the first time just to get the feel of things.

Appreciate the fast respond. I guess i will do just that when my visa expires in 2 months time.

By the way, i made a last minute trip back to Singapore as something urgent came up. Paid 5900฿ for Cathay pacific airline (is it expensive?).

& since i was back in SG, i went to get a tourist visa. One thing which i could not figure out was the expiry of the visa was 18 Aug starting from 19 May, which is about 3 months right? But when i arrived in BKK, they gave me only 2 months? :o

Would someone please clear my doubts?

Million of thanks in advance!

You could enter Thailand on any date between May 19 and August 18. On entry you received the normal 60 day stay stamp. If, at the end of these 60 days you want to stay longer you need to visit immigration with a valid reason, 1,900 baht and photo to obtain an additional 30 days.

Price for Singapore trip sounds reasonable for normal airline. There are cheaper flights from some discount carriers now.
