March 6, 201016 yr Hi guys, I chose to post this in bedlam because I wanted to keep it away from the riff raff & because I was more interested on hearing an 'experienced'view on the issue. At the end of last year I moved house. I went slightly up market and moved into a fairly decent moo baan. Okay so far so good. Im lucky, my house has only one boudary with a neighbour, then two boundaries are lined by a lake and the final boundary is fenced and faces the roadway. My house has a fairly large yard and I have two gates, one on the drive way and the other, a smaller gate near the edge of the lake. Its a large yard for surburbia, about 200 talang wah. A couple of days after moving into the house, late one afternoon, I saw a thai man lurking around near the smaller gate at the lakes edge. At the time of spotting him I noted that he had no shirt on and was peering into our yard. I went out and confronted the man and he informed me he was a neighbour & indicated his house, which is about 60 metres down the soi. I wasnt too friendly with him nor was I rude, I just enquired as to what he might want and after that he walked away. He was definately a bit strange. I will now refer to the man as 'the creep'. I went overseas for a week and when I got back my better half complained to me that she had seen this 'the creep' lurking around the fence boundary most evenings and that he unnerved her. That weekend I had a gardner come in to help me do some gardning and I went inside to get us something cool to drink and when I returned outside, the creep was sitting inside my yard in my sala, looking at the lake. I immediately asked him what he was doing, to which he replied, "Looking at the lake" or words to that effect. I asked him how he got into the yard and he pointed at the gardner. I then instructed him to leave the yard and not to come back without an invite. I opened the gate and he left the yard, looking back several times over his shoulder, with an obvious look of disgust. I spoke with the gardner and she informed me that he had demanded she opened the gate to let him in & she assumed I knew him. Since that time, mostly during the hours of the evening I have again seen the creep moving around in the dark along the edge of the lake near my bottom garden. Every time I enter into the yard to challenge him, he scampers away. Some nights from inside I catch a glimpse of him peering into the yard, as if hes trying to look inside the house (its quite a distance, so it would be no easy feat to see inside). Again as soon as I present myself in the yard, he scampers away. One night my better half challenged the creep as he was peering over the fence, she caught him by surprise as he hadnt noticed her standing by the lake. He immediately stated he was looking for his cat to which she replied, "I will let you know if the cat comes here." This has been going on for a couple of months now. The man is in his late 50ies, he lives alone, he must have a reasonable amount of money because his home would be worth around 5-6 million baht and he drives a new car. He appears to work daylight hours but Ive got no idea what he does. Any time I have seen the creep during daylight hours, he always stops what he is doing, puts his hands on his hips and stares in my/our direction with an irritated look on his face. I have spoken to the security personnel in the moo baan to which they have simply stated he is entitled to be in the village (because he lives there) and thats it. I havent bothered contacting the Police because I can imagine that would be fruitless as well. Since he entered the yard I have been keeping the gates locked, to prevent him from letting himself in. One afternoon, when we noticed him in the soi we approached him in order to see what his fascination was with our yard/house, at which time he basically ran inside his house. I pressed the bell on his front gate and could here it ringing inside the house, but he ignored us completely. Anyway again, this evening I saw the creep lurking in the shaddows, peering up towards our house and thought to myself, I wonder what suggestions the folk on Thai Visa might have about this fellow, please understand this is quite unnerving for the lady of the house.
March 6, 201016 yr Give him a pair of binoculars so that he can observe you from the privacy of his own home without having to lurk in the darkness. Even some of those night vision ones would be better. He sounds a bit strange, to say the least, but if he won't give an explanation then what to do? Persist, ask him round for a beer and get the conversation going. Perhaps he had wanted to buy your house but you got there before him so he had to buy second best... Dunno, no creeps where I live... apart from that guy who...!!!
March 6, 201016 yr Unnerve him back. Do your naked run around the garden thing, or scream like a bedlamite, act crazy in some way every time he's lurking. Or borrow someone's dog and tie it up at that gate.
March 6, 201016 yr Maybe he's checking to see if you've discovered the treasure chest he's buried in your yard.
March 6, 201016 yr Maybe he's checking to see if you've discovered the treasure chest he's buried in your yard. That was my first thought too. Treasure.....or a body.
March 6, 201016 yr "Hi guys, I chose to post this in bedlam because I wanted to keep it away from the riff raff & because I was more interested on hearing an 'experienced'view on the issue." I hope you're not implying that all the replies you get will be from men who are experienced in being creepy? Apart from me, of course

Hardly endure, this guys creepyness goes well past your level.

As for drinking beer with him, errr, i don't thinkso.......may i should and then he could have a little accident with a pair of concrete boots and the lake
March 7, 201016 yr i like my privacy as well and if i had your problem the first thing i would do is buy some fast growing bamboo it will obstruct the outside view quickly. I had a situation a few yrs ago while i was living in a large rental; one night i am watching tv and my boys come running to me and say someone is in the yard, it is around 20:00 hrs and dark, there had been several break ins in the neighborhood so we were all a bit on edge, i assume it is a person up to no good. I grab my pistol and go outside, where i find a man luking in the trees, i ask him what he is doing on my land, he sees the gun and calls out to someone, a couple of seconds later his son comes out of the bush? they say they are hunting birds. I explain to them in a sincere way that prowling in the dark on an other mans land without me knowing is a quick way to get shot. The fathers reply, he is thai and ask me how long i had been in thailand. my reply; the bullet does not care where anyone is from and if he is on my land when he is shot the police will not either. I never saw him again. in the mean time while you wait for the bamboo to grow i would make sure that the creep got a good look at my pistol as a matter of fact i might even have it in my hand when i go to see who is looking at my house and explain to him that at night it is not safe to be stalking my house as i might shoot him by mistake.

Crikey. I don't have a pistol, but I can see MM that it may have the desired effect. I appreciate the advice about the bamboo, but this is a long boundary, maybe 50 metres plus in length and part of his perving zone is actually straight up the driveway. I will admit that its not much of a privacy issue during the day, because you just can't see inside, but during the night, when the lights are on in the house and its dark outside! Anyway MM, are you and your pistol available for hire?
March 7, 201016 yr Hire a nice friendly policeman and go visit the chap. Try to find out why he is doing his peeping-tom imitation and get him to stop. Failing this, get the bamboo or add two meters on to your wall.
March 7, 201016 yr Big well trained dog, taught to patrol the boundary, not take food from anyone except you & the other half. Not the ideal answer if you aren't planning on being around long term but if you are, then that is what I would do. It wont deter all but he might think twice about hanging around if the dog is making a lot of noise & drawing attention to him.

March 7, 201016 yr Years ago in antisceptic Swissland there was a guy who would go around the village my parents lived in, at night, fold his clothes neatly on the back of his moped and stand in front of peoples windows in the niddy noddy. Not doing anything, just standing there. Everyone knew about him, but didn't know who he was. Until he did it to our next door neighbours. Unknown to the flasher, they had lights in their garden which with the flick of a switch bathed the whole area with light. He was like a rabbit in headlights. A lot of commotion, with my dad rugby tackling the poor bugger. It turned out he was just a kid with a few screws loose, not out to harm anyone. We used to joke about "who will he flash tonight" sort of thing. But your neighbour sounds a bit more sinister. Get a dog. Trip wires that blast out Copacabana. It's a horrible feeling when your private space is being infringed upon. good luck.

We adopted a soi dog, hes not real big, hes not scarey looking, so i just need to train him about the weirdo now, so far no good. LOL. I dont really want any other pets at this time, because at the end of the year Im going to hit the road and Im already in panic mode about what Im going to do with this lovely soi dog, great idea though.

Sure, thats the easier soloution...so after ive blocked our view of outside (paying for waterfront property for what) he can now move about freely in my yard without me knowing it. Will immediately return my privacy to a point tho.

I have always been the sort of person to confront.....Im a bit over it but I think I may sit at the end of his driveway tommorrow and wait for the Phukka to get home, with my arse blocking his gateway, if he wants to go inside he will have to answer a few questions. Perhaps i should prepare him some concrete boots in the mean time.
March 7, 201016 yr Âs i said to the guy with the girfriend who gets wierd fone calls. Get a whistle. Has worked for me and loads of my frîends over the years. But might not work for you. Perhaps, one of those thingys they use at footy matches. Blast him with one of those - no probs.

I might rig up a special sprinkler system, he kind of looks like he needs a bath & we could just flick a switch everytime we see him near the boundry and bingo. I could film the episodes and post them on youtube...
March 8, 201016 yr So, where do you want his body dumped? I charge reasonable rates for friends. I DO need a location so I can identify the victim though. I just hate it when I get rid of the wrong person.

March 8, 201016 yr So, where do you want his body dumped? I charge reasonable rates for friends. I DO need a location so I can identify the victim though. I just hate it when I get rid of the wrong person. Seriously though.....I got the wrong pig once, and the wrong cat once. I still have nightmares!!. The pig incident was in Fiji. My FiL asked me to look after his pig, and that was ok....but one night, wild pigs came down around the house, and I went out with the gun.....long story short, in the dark, I shot HIS pig, not a wild one. He never forgave me. The cat story is not for this forum.
March 8, 201016 yr Author The cat story is not for this forum. Certainly not with patsy lerking around.
March 8, 201016 yr The cat story is not for this forum. Certainly not with patsy lerking around. Certainly! My backup betrothed and all!!! What would she think?
March 8, 201016 yr I've kicked a few cats over the years.. with quite pleazurable pleasures. Bastard vermin, all of them. And yes, jimmijoe brought in the first of many mice this morning. Headless. just a wee body. And presented it to me, I know that they bring presents to their mummies etc. but i freak out every time. Threw it out the window. Cat fast asleep after his hunting dilemma.
March 8, 201016 yr I had the misfortune of suffering from a peeping tom as a teenager. I still can't sleep if the curtains aren't tightly closed, have the occasional dream of the man standing looking in the window, etc etc. Its a nasty horrible thing and I think the motion triggered sprinkler system is a very good idea. That and spotlights.
March 8, 201016 yr Author The fence is now sporting a series of lights along the top of it.....it would probably look quite nice if all of them had the same type of globe in them . Back home I had a wonderful irrigation system right thru the property, it was all controlled from a central panel and I had everything from fine sprays thru to drip nozzels. For this job I would like a fekkin fire hose with an electric charge running thru it...a bit extreme?
March 8, 201016 yr Get a big dog. Let him see you with a shotgun. Clean it on the porch, do some skeet(sp?) shooting in the back yard.
