having read that they were testing full body scanners for 1 month at swampy i would just like to know if they decided to keep them in place full-time? extend there trial? or get rid of them all together?

also have they got them in place at heathrow yet? i know some months ago the British government said they would be in use at all termninals within weeks, but what they say and what they do are 2 different things :) we know it all comes down to the pennies at the end of the day.

also i know they said you get scanned boarding the flight (outbound) but do you also get scanned incoming (when you land) and head back through customs out of the airport terminal? this question applies to both BKK and LHR.

Any help appreciated.thanks

btw just for the record, i dont plan to carry any bombs/guns/explosives etc :D

there are a very few of them on departures and are used selectively.

at heathrow they were instroduced at this same time, but departing from terminal 4 recently I haven't seen them - they might be at the other terminals, departing to the usa or just at the gates for planes to the usa. That's why advisable check in time on intercontinental flights is now 3h, comparing to 2h before.

from the 1st march they suppose to be introduced in gatwick.

in bangkok a scanner was used to detect several kg of drugs inside of some iranian mule, but probably it was a special scanner which can see through, and not just those recent ones, which see only on the top of skin.

The one at Swampy reported to be a total bust, could not pick a a 2.5inch square of metal in test. Story in BPP website today. They will not be used but will consider demos by other scanner companies.

what would be the scenario if one of "us" was going through the scanner while being "excited" about his trip to thailand?

probably would depend on the amount of "wmd" he had?
