Up in the hills behind Ratchapreuk, this must have been moving pretty fast because it changed shape a lot during the five minutes I was taking the picture (from the Hang Dong Road near Ban Wan Tan, by the way).

Oops! Sorry about the spelling - I can't see a way to edit the topic title.

Great picture, Greensides. It looks like a alien space craft because you can't see the mountain under the light from the fire.

You should be able to just about see some trees in the foreground - they're there on my monitor (if I move my head about a bit).

Yes, it is the trees in the foreground that make it so interesting. The fire above just looks like it's suspended in space. :)

Cough, cough.

This weekend riding east from Phrao on the 1150 passed a large forest fire, massive clouds of smoke choking the road for quite a distance. Didn't stop to take any pictures, just wanted to get the heck away from the smoke and falling ashes. Anybody up for a rain dance?

There was a similar one up there last night. I think we're over the worst of it now for this year, the winds from the south/south east have been pretty strong for the past few days. Despite the best efforts of the pyromaniacs the rubbish is getting blown away now.
