Best "cheapo" Phone

Featured Replies

Hello,

Want to buy a new mobile and dont really need an iPhone etc. but, really, know very little about phones generally.

I was thinking about one of those Samsung phones (is it called Samsung One? or there is another version about 1000 more expensive) but I am simply basing it on these criteria...it looks nice, I can send mails and have access to email if I want, Samsung is a reasonable make.

Any advice on these models or generally for a phone in that price range?

Thanks.

Samsung 3650/3 Corby (aka Candy), Samsung 3510 TouchWiz (aka Genoa)

These phones are great if you can get used to a capacitive touch screen.

Main difference, the cheapy has a smaller resolution camera

I have the more expensive one (4000bht secondhand from the phone stalls) and it takes really good photos, plays MP3 very well (no pauses when multi-tasking). You can't seem to get the cheaper ones secondhand yet.

Easy to SMS in Thai or English, at the press of a button on the SMS screen

Capacitive screens don't work for sweaty or very dry hands, so not suitable for everyone.
