Visa In Cancelled Passport

Recommended Posts

I have Thai non-immigr B visa valid till January 2006 but I have recently changed the passport for a new one (as visa pages in the old passport ran out - otherwise it would have been good till 2007). Can i enter Thailand on this visa? they could put the arrival stamp in the new one... does anyone know? thanks

I had a similar situation. I filled up my passport and had to get a new one here in Bangkok. The embassy stamped my old passport with a stamp that said:

"This passport in which insufficient visa pages remain has been succeeded by passport No ******* and may be used when presented with the succeeding passport for the sole purpose of presenting any visa that may continue to be valid."

So- should be OK for you. You may want to check with your respective authority who issued the new passport.

thanks bino! I know most countries accept such visas except a few (Germany is an example - for non-EU res who require German visa).

funny thing is my Thai visa was the LAST one to appear in the old passport, and they had to put it on the "Accompanying children" page :o after a long fight with the consul, of course, and numerous tel calls btw Thai and my own consulate...

I've heard stories about certain countries requiring a certain number of blank pages before issuing a visa. If the Thai embassy that issued your Non Imm B visa put it on the last page of your passport, you would think that they would have said something if there was going to be a problem when you arrive and didn't have any space for the entry stamp.

I'd make a call and double check anyway......

You should have no problems on arrival.

Immigration in BKK will transfer the visa to your new passport with no hassle (and I think it's free).

Just produce both passports on arrival ( or go to an Immigration office ) There is no fee applicable.

dr Pat Pong is correct. Simply take both passports to an immigration office and they will transfer your current visa to the new passport. No charge. :o
