Surat Thani Bus To Phuket:allowed Luggage

Featured Replies

We plan on travelling from Surat Thani to Phuket on a bus with 4 large suitcases, but we are concerned that this might be too much luggage. Has anyone done something like this?

Never heard of a luggage allowance, just make sure you get your bags on the bus first! I have found that quite effective, your bags are on first, everyone elses piled up on top, they aren't about to pull all of them out to tell you to get your extras out. More difficult if it is a mini-bus but a big bus, go for it! (do you think i have been in thailand too long?) :o

Hi Kedecker

I travelled from Phuket to Surat Thani by bus about 3 years ago (would never do it again!!) - my friend went crazy with the shoe shopping in KL so she had quite a few bags and didn't have any problems getting them all on the bus. Have a great trip :o

We traveled last year from a Van Bus.

It is very convenient and if I remember correct they charge as little as 400 Bht per person. It is a straight drive. You can go to a small Tour Company in Surathani and ask for a Van bus.

Normally they have a Rack on the Roof to put your Big Bags and it is safe, if no rain.

Have a memorable vacation !!!

Each to their own but in my opinion van bus travel would be my last choice for any travel here. Very uncomfortable when packed (they usually are) and often full of offensive odors. :o

agreed, lopburi, and not very comfortable if you are a tall person. problem is, in touristy areas (ie samui, phangan, tao) travel agents often flog the minivan tickets so it can be hard to find the regular bus. took the minibus to penang way back when and vowed to never do it again, crazy driver, small spaces, and very few bathroom breaks! :o

Hmm..has point..

I forgot..we both sat in front seat. Also not much people on that day.

:D

I got the bus from Surat Thani to Bangers with Khun wifey, son & lots of bags in tow......

bus turned up not enough room for all our luggage.... :o What to do ?

turns out that another bus was going at the same time.. they slung the rest on the other bus...Oh no i thought here we go this bus is going to Bangers and the other one is probably headed to Chaing Rai knowing my luck, But everything was fine both buses arrived at the same time and our luggage was safe !!!

Agreed Mini bus travel is torture. B)
