I’m happy to be corrected on the third to a half, good news if that’s true. Certainly a lot fewer than that were wearing masks in Jomtien, I was referring to Bangkok. What do you think is the % of mask wearing in central Bangkok? The proportion of people who wore masks pre Covid was minuscule, people have posted videos of crowds in Bangkok to demonstrate this. Whether taking precautions is hysteria or not depends entirely on the odds - I take the precaution to always look both ways before crossing a road, but my chances of becoming severely ill or dying from Covid are tiny, so it would be crazy for me to wear a face mask. I do take the precaution of a shot of vaccine annually, but that’s a trivial bother compared with the misery of wearing a face mask whenever I’m outside my home. -

Freshly crowned as Miss Grand United Kingdom, Harriotte is preparing to compete at Miss Grand International in Bangkok this October. Lane, a dynamic entrepreneur and owner of the coaching business Crown Coach, explains that her success, intelligence, and stature leave her age group hesitant to approach her. "Being in the spotlight and successful seems to put guys off," she says. Yet, she remains unfazed, stating, "I’m content with where I am. The right person will come in due time." Towering at 6ft, Lane enjoys the perks of her globe-trotting lifestyle, focusing on personal growth and her burgeoning business. Her coaching company helps aspiring pageant participants find their confidence and shine on stage, much like she did. Reflecting on her journey, she highlights how pageantry offered more than just tiaras and sashes. "I started as a shy girl with few friends and found a world of empowerment and lifelong friendships. This philosophy has seen Lane accumulate multiple titles, allowing her to travel extensively, engage in humanitarian efforts, and experience what she describes as "a life people dream of." Lane is passionate about inspiring young girls, particularly those from working-class backgrounds, to dream beyond societal limitations. "Raised in a hardworking family, I want to show that you don't need to hail from the capital to achieve greatness," she passionately shares. Her mission is clear: motivate others to embrace their potential and chase their dreams. As she gears up for the competition in Bangkok, Lane reflects on what the judges seek: "It’s all about body, brain, beauty, and business. They want someone with depth and substance, not just a pretty face."
