Currency Exchange

Recommended Posts

Even though I have read some prior posts regarding exchange rates, I must say it confuses the ###### out of me.

Many experts (Warren Buffett) have been very down on the US dollar and prospects for the future. Now, after the votes in France and Holland, there has even been talk of the demise of the Euro.

So, where are we headed?

I am from the US and receive my retirement income in US $ and am planning to buy something in Thailand (condo perhaps) as a hedge against the dollar:baht because I have been concerned about the US $.

But, what affect will the problems with the Euro have?

Any thoughts?

The Euro won't go away. The current malaise is not based upon the Euro itself, but on the political consequences of some bad PR regarding the a constitution that is not a constitution.

Don't forget that even now the E is trading 1.22 $, compared to 0.82 at the emission.

I work with a basket of 6 currencies: CNR, $, Euro, GBP, Y, THB. shift from one currency to another depending on the rates. You loose a bit on the transaction cost, but if you keep the margins right, you mostly come out on top.
