I wear black socks only when I have my black tennis shoes on and am going out with Kiwis or ill informed Yanks.

That attire seems to suit their taste. :)

let me bring this back on topic

You got anything more juicy? Did you read that 8 page rolling stone report?

It was quite good & I think you would like it.

Yeah, I have lots of things juicier. Unfortunately you wouldn't like them nor would you read them, as you have admitted in the past.

I did read the RS report. Didn't like it for personal reasons which I will not disclose.

Now Chuck I don't know what you think I admitted in the past but what I intended was...

I don't read yours or K's posts when it goes off on a tangent usually designed to incite.

Usually ending with the words liberal or something to that effect.

If it is on topic & adding actual info I enjoy a post from anyone.Including you & K

What I meant about juicier was the list you gave was the basic stuff that has been around since day 1.

Yes BP is apologetic as get all. Yes I heard the live speech today here & knew that small people comment would hurt them

Same as the you people comment killed Ross Perot

At the end of the day I still maintain this has biblical possibility & is a game changer.

I have yet to see any suggestion of anything that may help from all the oil experts.

Those like K who say well this is because they got pushed so far off shore is off base.

They themselves ( the Oil Companies )did reports on this 10 years ago & knew it was a possibility.

Also the nuke is a non option & they know it.

At the end of the day I still maintain this has biblical possibility & is a game changer.

I disagree. It is not going "biblical" and "game changer" is becoming a worn out phrase. What does that mean? More regulations? No more drilling in the seas worldwide (hardly). Mankind will stop using oil altogether? Drilling in the Gulf won't stop, they'll just add more regulations. As much as is being spilled it is still only a drop in the ocean - so to speak. It will probably run out before they get around to nuking it. I remember when Saddam sabotaged the Kuwaiti oil fields during the Gulf War. That was supposed to kill the Persian Gulf and burn for years. It didn't.

Regionally this spill will cause problems that's about it. Fish and birds will come back. The only permanent, irreplaceable damage could be to the coral reef in the Florida Keys.

The only good to come out of this is that since "necessity is the mother of invention", and there is a BIG necessity - let's hope someone comes up with a way that will keep this from ever becoming a problem again. What's more realistic than expecting more windmills to negate the need for petroleum.

my my arent we a box of birds today? :D

the pics to one of yr links have been posted already, so you must have the monopoly on broken records :D

What's the matter? Did you run out of childish cartoons to post?

He seems to have stuck a nerve with those cartoons chuckd, whats a matter, did you forget to take you kg of sugar this morning? :D

Cheer up old sausage, its not that bad is it?

Nope, it isn't bad at all. I have learned to expect childish things from somebody named "donnyboy". :)

looks like you've got your broken record stuck again since you posted it twice :D

Short attention span?

I read the RS report, there wasnt anything too exciting and I didnt get a badge for doing it but I read it nevertheless.

Its so good to see everyone getting along in here.

anyway, where were we (on topic, i hope). :)

"game changer" is becoming a worn out phrase. What does that mean?

Hint : Ask any of the thousands who have had their game changed by this disaster...or read about it :)

Nah. It was just worth saying two times.

What about the tsunami of 2004? Or the earthquake in Haiti? Those must have been the big "game changers". Like I said, a worn out phrase.

There have been a lot of double posts ever since they changed the forum.

Three times! :)

some estimates suggest the barrels per day leaked is 45,000, which @ 103 days= 4.6 million barrels

some as high as 60,000 bpd :)

Kind of silly to compare a structure that can be rebuilt to industries that cannot.

You were talking about the "thousands who have had their game changed by this disaster" now it's about "structures and industries". Uh-huh.

Many more "games were changed" by the two disasters I listed than the current one in the Gulf.

Comprehension......

Structures were in response to your comparing this crisis to a Tsunami or earthquake.

Industries was my response to what is being destroyed by this crisis.

In your examples the games were postponed in this crisis they are being destroyed.

Often you write one thing, someone challenges it, then you change what your original statement claiming then that the other person has a problem understanding you. If myself (and apparently some others) have a problem comprehending your posts it is because your writing skills are lacking.

Actually since your post we have discussed nothing just your usual minutia.

This time it was your calling "Game Changer" an untrue worn out phrase. Heaven forbid you actually add something to the discussion. Your game has always been to just pick a discussion apart over the minutia.

Perhaps your right because trying to explain the simplest of answers to you has worn me out...again.

Actually donnyboy, there seems to be alot of consensus around the 110,000 barre ls a day. So you do the math. thanks for the chart. (let me help, 135 days @ 110,000 barrels/day = 14.9million barrels. :D )

Anyway, perhaps we can keep the information coming on the spill donny as others seem to preoccupied with worrying about what the defintion of 'douche' is.

agreed,

I havent seen that rate before (110k bpd) :)

this latest news..

Oil Giant Privately Estimated Higher Spill Rate Than Publicly Disclosed

Newly disclosed documents show BP has maintained higher estimates of the spill gushing in the Gulf than it has publicly disclosed.

According to the Associated Press, BP secretly made a worst-case estimate of 60,000 barrels a day sometime last month. The figure is far higher than BP had said until this week.

As of Thursday morning, the BP well had released between 66 million and 120 million gallons of oil into the Gulf of Mexico, based on U.S. government daily spill rate figures

some heads need to roll @ BP

Yeah sorry ND I tried to explain that douche was not a mouthwash but he insisted :):D

Ok kidding aside...

Remember I was talking about the toxic corexit that is being sprayed?

Anyway more than 1.3 billion gallons of this poison has been released.

There seems to be law suits starting to pour in...

BP, Nalco Sued Over Allegedly Toxic Dispersant Being Used in Gulf Spill

Remember dispersant is a misnomer as all it does is sink the oil... Rather funny name too...kind of a pun I guess...corexit

Especially when you consider the corexit is 4x more toxic than the oil itself.

^Okay, okay.

NEWSFLASH PEOPLE: The general public is being lied to. I re-created a model of what is happening in my bathtube, utilising klong water and enviromentally friendly motor oil & have estimated that there is between 116,345 & 116,345.5 barrels of oil spewing from this gusher every 24hrs.

I believe my estimates are alot closer than the 5,000/10,000/15,000/60,000 barrels per day that BP claims.

The world should start to Bycott BP products and immediately imprison all BP executive staff and US lawmakers that played any part in changing regulations &/or failed to regulate this industry properly.:)

Since BO has admitted that the buck stops with him, he should also be arrested & placed in prison. :D

This is going to be the biggest environmental disaster known to man.

With the robotic craft they have on and around the site I am surprised that someone has not attempted to measure the flow rate coming out of the well bore. it might be that there is so much iron/junk they can not get to it. I understand, oil is being diverted to tankers via some apparatus. (that is measurable accurately) so someone must be close to having a real number, if its not already known. If you can get to the flow, there are devices which will measure the fluid flow rare. They may require modifying for the specific situation but there are several companies and institutions who would probably get involved.

^Ohh slaps, these fekkers (including president hobamma) know exactly how much oil is coming out of the hole, but you don't think they really want to share that information with the rest of the world.

The old saying, "What they can't see, won't hurt them?" right?

thats the thing, eventually there wont be much in the ocean to see, for how long who knows
