Buy Digi Compact Camera/ Thai Or Germany

Featured Replies

Interested to buy latest Panasonic or Canon compact camera.

Bring in from Germany? Mail order in Thailand or elsewhere?

Living in the country.

Imports are sold at a relatively high price as they are monopoly controlled. If you can accept a gray import shop guarantee there is about a 30% savings available. Pix-one is such a supplier and have used them several times.

But I do not know the price in Germany or if they offer world wide guarantee.

Many shops esp. in Panthip have only Thai warranty. But the prices are cheaper.

A rough estimate that Panthip prices are about 20% cheaper than Germany. But in Germany, you have way more protection by law if something goes wrong or you want to return the product.

Buy here only if you live here is my advice.

You almost have to wait till you get to Germany unless you have someone that can hunt out the best deal. America was 30% less for Panasonic ,Nikon, cannon & Fujifilm. If you buy in Germany just pack your warranty papers separate from your carry on & keep your camera in a fanny pack or something similar & just act like you have had it for a while. I brought back a new Ipod & some camera gear as carry on & never got asked about if it was new.
