I want to go to Iceland and have always found the place very intriging because it seems so different from anywhere else on this planet, almost alien.

From what little I know, it's dark a lot, the woman are very sexy, there are hot volcanic pools in snowy outbacks, and it's VERY expensive, probably because they can't grow any of their own produce I would assume.

Obviously I can't afford it, but would like to make an Icelandic pen pal for when I can which would also give me somebody to show me around and maybe even somewhere to stay.

I have searched the internet for some kind of IcelandExpat dot com and the only forum I found was rather desolate, a bit like Iceland itself... Maybe there's a more active one I overlooked.

My first love will always be Thailand but it would be nice to visit somewhere completely different before returning to LOS full time.

P.S. I am NOT a fan of that pretentious little eskimo, Bjork.

I suppose I am depending on how you look at it, but I'm worth it because I'm incredibly loyal apparently, and wouldn't be better to know somebody, (preferably a nice eskimo girl), before you head out into the unknown.

Out of a population of just over 250,000 there are around 300 Thai families settled there. And I don't think that counts the Locals that have brought their Thai girls/boys from here. Also in Reykjavik alone there are over ten Thai restaurants. We have eaten at most of them. Myself and Mrs Lampshade spent a glorious holiday there. There is so much to do. From touring the waterfalls to getting caught in a blizzard high up on a glacier. From horse trekking over the volcanic lava to watching the Puffins nest looking over the black sand beach. From seeing the Geysers shoot boiling water high in the sky, to swimming in bath hot water at the local pool. From seeing the thousands of sheep on the green hillsides and wondering how they got there. From bathing in the famous Blue Lagoon to dining in the plush revolving restaurant looking over the city. It truly is a magical place.

P.S. I have been reliably informed that the only place on Earth remotely like Iceland, is New Zealand.

Only it's warmer, cheaper, has subtropical beaches, lots of tourists, hitchhiking is easy, and the locals smoke a lot more weed.

Scampy - 6quid for a pint has any indication of what iceland is like dare say you should stay away. I spent 3months there a few years back. Beautiful place, but perhaps the most expensive place in the world.

Landing at Keflavik Airport is like landing on the moon - bizzare volcanic formations ect.

In Thailand I have a lot of experience of coming home drunk in the daylight so that's nothing new.

Reverse it in the winter - 4-6hrs daylight, 4-6hrs dusk in the summer.

Icelanders are notorious pissheads, and can go totally bonkers when on the juice. Not to say other nationalities are that much better, but the Icelanders do carry a reputation for drinking a lot even among us Scandinavians.

They have the most of the Viking genes left in the whole of Scandinavia, and that is bound to show some way... Methinks They are really lucky to get some fresh Buddhist/Thai blood into their gene pool.

She looks like the Geri Halliwell at Madame Tussauds, not that I've been there but I know a waxwork when I see one.

Geri Halliwell is thick as shit so anyone I associate with her doesn't stand a change of any 'Scamp love'.
