Exporting A Car From Thailand To England

Featured Replies

Has anyone exported a car from Thailand to England.

Im looking to know what the shipping cost would be ... is there a roll it on roll it off service as ive a friend who does this in the US when exporting to England to save a few quid.

Are there any taxes when exporting from Thai customs im presuming not but this is Thailand, and what are the pitfalls i need to look out for...

And finally does anyone know the duties id be liable with at the UK end ... though im aware i can call the taxman in England to get this info.

Cheers in advance.

I can't provide you with any specifics, but I can tell you that there are a number of Thai companies that specialize (and obviously make a good business out of) doing just this. So in short, it must be doable and make some level of financial sense, otherwise these mobs wouldn't exist..

Use your search-<deleted> to look up Soni Motors for an example..

If you decide to export a basic pickup or something like that - remember it won't have a heater fitted and may contravene some UK roadworthy laws too.

I must ask, why would any one want to export to UK ? Everything is cheap there, motoring wise. Unless you have found a Bugatti in a Soi. If so lucky you. :)

Have to agree. I know of some who have shipped cars to UK, but only for very specialist servicing and repairs (Jag XJ 220, Morgan, etc) before having them shipped back here.

UK taxes would presumably just be car tax and VAT.
