Time To Come Home To Ubon

Featured Replies

Greetings,

I've visited Ubon Ratchachani about 8 to 10 times over the last 6 years. Now, I'm going to make the big move in the next two months.

I have been teaching English for almost 9 years in South Korea. Now, I feel that I need a major change of environment.

My wife (6 years) is from Ubon and our 2 children were also born there. Until now, they have been living with me in Korea for the past

5 years. I will move around the end of August. I would like to continue teaching. I was wondering which visa would best serve my needs.

I'm hoping to also get to meet other people from the area. rolleyes.gif

The visa you need is the non immigrant O. That arrival time is going to make it hard to find work for awhile. It is the middle of the semester. The second semester will not start until October/November. You will be looking for work in the middle of the year. there might be jobs, but the choices might not be the best ones.

When I come to Ubon, I won't be too picky when it comes to employment. smile.gif I just hope to be near the city.

I will also be doing some renovations on our house. I will be busy most of the time, but I will admit I'm looking to meet other

foreigners from the area. Please feel free to write me.

There are 5 "farang" establishments in Ubon city.

WrongWay Cafe/Bar - Padaeng rd, N'Joy Cafe/bar- Palochai rd, Peppers - Cafe/Bakery - Uppalisan rd and Spago Italian restaurant - Changsanit rd. You also have Lily's restaurant by the lake/Huai Wang Nong reservoir, but not sure if it's reopened after rebuilding/extension.

In addition there are plenty of other choices, and one good source of info is weloveubon.com :)
