Anyone Imported A Laptop Before? What Were The Duties?

Featured Replies

I will maybe have my brother ship a netbook? Anyone have any experience receiving a netbook or laptop via EMS? What were the duty fees?

i got a laptop imported and it was a pain in the ass.. took about 6 hours to collect, but there were hardly any charges, i was hoping it wouldnt be 20% but i believe computers are exempt.. there was some little charges for i have no idea what like 500 baht or something.. but certainly not 20% of the value. this was about 3 years ago though..

Unless you can find someone to hand carry, I suggest you buy locally.

That way, no customs duties and a full guarantee.

Seems best just to buy locally. Netbooks are cheap enough and if you are on a tourist visa you can get a VAT refund when you leave from airport within 60 days.
