Eset Nod32 4 Versus Eset Smart Security

Featured Replies

Smart Security has a firewall but is not rated very good. You would be better off with Eset Nod32 4 and Comodo firewall which is free or Online Armor which I think is even better but not free.

Thanks for the above, but am I right in believing that ESET only sells NOD 32 from the web in 5 PC packages .. well useful.

I'm not THAT computer savvy to blag a free download !!

What are you talking?? You can grab a 30 day trial from their website and then just buy a disc from somewhere such as Amazon and just user the Username and Password to extend the licence validity. Cheaper than buying the licence direct from ESET.

ESET has one of the highest virus detection rates in the industry, and NOD32 is all you need. Third party software firewalls these days are not needed unless you still use a pre-XP OS.

Using NOD32 with Malwarebytes is all you need.

Im not to sure i agree with that statement , if you think that windows firewall will give you adequate protection think think again, it is the most basic form of firewall possible

Common Sense is still the best protection!

Not to click on every link, not to open every e-mail, not to surf certain websites...

I have been offered to download a photo of someone, I never knew, pretending to be a women from "west-Africa", other "offers" more direct, who contacted me on skype, all a similiar pattern, and all rather fast, almost pressuring to download this Photo or accept a call.... who would do this?

Surfing the web since 1997 .... these days using AVG, ZoneAlarm and CC... none, nil, used the usb stick to transfer som eof my pic's to a shop to have prints made... here I had a trojan infection from the print shop immediately detected by AVG... and nullified - end of story.

A few years ago I'd agree with you, but it's been improved markedly since. You should be relying on a properly setup router as your primary firewall anyway.(and what Samuian said about common sense is spot on, though I can't agree with the AVG recommendation because it does lousy in lab tests and is on most machines brought to me for disinfection, but because it's free a lot of people will defend it to the death )
