Hi all.

If one has eaten something bad how long would it normally take for (a) the vomitting and diorea to start, and (B) for it to stop? I am trying to determine what it is that I ate, and wheb I'll (feeling right again.

Many thanks.

Thanks James. That sounds about right for me- I ate at about 7 or 8 pm and I had a seroius trip to the bathroom at about 2am.

I presume the best course of action now is to abstain from food for the day?

Thanks again.

If its the usual type of food poisoning just shit it out mate, rehydrate yourself and continue eating - avoid milk products  - but something solid will help. You will be back to normal in no time. If it continues beyond today maybe go see a DR but unlikely at this point.

Think of it as changing the oil in your car.

Good advice.

Just before Happy New Year, I purchased a chicken donner kebab from a mobile vendor (yeah - know, stupid thing to do). Six hours later I was in great distress. Initially I tried Buscopen (for the cramps and the 'Trots' and

'Yah Taht Nam Khow' which my wife recommended. Is available every where and is a white liquid in a small plastic bottle with green label and a flying white rabbit logo. Printed on the side is:

Mist Salol et MentholIntestinal Antiseptic Caminative. Relieves abdominal pain. Also no food for 24 hours but plenty of non-alcoholic liquids (not cold and no dairy products) plus rehydration sachets (electrolytes) to replace mineral salts and sugars. After 24 hours, start to eat solid foods. Jok can be very good start even if you do not feel up to it.

Good luck
