7 arrested for allegedly murdering alleged Malaysian drug ring leader

CHIANG MAI -- Police have arrested a Malaysian man, two Thai women and four Thai men for having allegedly collaborated to kill a Malaysian man whom they alleged to be a drug ring leader.

The seven were arrested by Chiang Mai police for having allegedly killed Kwa Hok Chun, a Malaysian busienssman, on June 15.

Police said two of the suspects are a married couple who allegedly masterminded the murder. They were identified as Wong Xi Wai, a Malaysian man, and his Thai wife, Yuphaporn Wong.

Police said Wong was a member of the drug ring and wanted to quit by Kwa threatened to kill him so Wong planned the murder with his wife and hired the five others to kill him.

Police said they traced the seven from a rope that was used to tie him up. One of the seven was found to have bought the rope from a local shop on June 14, police said.
