June 28, 201015 yr My buddy is arriving at dawn on Thursday and needs a Thai phone number pretty quick. Does AIS or DTAC still have a booth in the arrivals area where he can grab one? Thanks!
June 28, 201015 yr True still gives away free sims at most airports. Then it is only 1 baht a min to ring to most countries overseas.
June 28, 201015 yr If you just need a SIM Card immediately go to one of those two family marts... Seconds later you are online (or your buddy)...
June 29, 201015 yr Author ^ You mean the Family Marts at the airport? That's cool as I can also pick up a few San Mig Pale Pilsen's for the road trip!
June 29, 201015 yr Id just wait till you are where you want to be. You will pay full freight for the card and have I suspect limited choices. I like DTAC. I like CATNET card for calling USA @ B4 per min. 009 on DTAC is B7 I think.
June 29, 201015 yr Can't recall ever seening any booths... I just buy at the newsagent/book store thing... 99baht Happy Sim... Cheers, Daewoo
July 1, 201015 yr Can't recall ever seening any booths... After you exit the Customs hall, turn right, and AIS and DTAC both have booths before you reach door 3 (probably even before you reach door 4?). The booths will be on your left hand side as you walk toward door 3.
July 17, 201015 yr Author ^ well spotted wp, i have been thru the airport about 10 times these past 2 weeks and noticed them. i ended up buying a SIM at a phone store and sms'ing my buddy with the number so he could advise his clients before he left the US. he bought a dual-SIM 'Blackberry' here and has had no problems.
