Direct Pulp Capping

Featured Replies

Has anyone had direct pulp capping done in Bangkok? It's supposed to be an alternative to root canals that requires only one or two visits and causes less overall discomfott.

Here's info on the procedure:

I've been told I need a root canal although I don't have an abcess, etc and the nerve is still alive. Seems like I might be a candidate for direct pulp capping, just don't know whether it's available here.

Root canals for the most part are a bit of racket by all dentists, granted they are needed on occasion, but in lot of cases they are done to generate income.

After a converation with a friend of mine overseas who actually is a dentist....If no abcess, teeth not sensitive etc etc...no need to have them done.

ALthough there's no abcess apparent in the xrays, my back molar on one side is so senstive to pressure as of a few weeks ago that I can hardly chew anything, and is extremely sensitive to heat. It passes the 'tap' test too. I'm always a bit sceptical about over-treatment, but have done a lot of Internet research and is seems to be a classic case of 'root canal needed.' But the pulp capping accomplishes the same thing with a lot less effort and time, and is probably cheaper too. Just wonder if anyone does it in Bkk.

From eHow:

"Things You'll Need:

  • Dentist
  • Dental insurance or the funds to pay for the dental services"

Seeking medical advice on the internet, and being told that you need "a doctor" and "money", seems to indicate that the level of information that you're getting might not be at a level sufficient to make the proper decision.

Before you try anything else, perhaps you should try antibiotics. Sensitivity to heat is an indication of an infection. If you insist of the eHow procedure, it would behoove you to go to a dental clinic and ask. One warning though: if the receptionist or dentist reads the eHow page and sees that it recommends "a dentist" and "money", be prepared for some laughter.
